Well now we can't lay claim to having the heaviest safety in the NFL, but what does that matter?

EARTHQUAKE2689 06-20-2007, 03:38 PM Well now we can't lay claim to having the heaviest safety in the NFL, but what does that matter? he is faster. dmek25 06-20-2007, 03:43 PM i might be reading into something here, but it seems like more of an overall commitment coming out of redskins park these days Skins_4_Lyfe 06-20-2007, 05:15 PM John Clayton just did a segment on ESPN News, where he reported that Sean Taylor went from 228lbs to 212lbs. Clayton said that he did this in hope to improve his speed to become more of a "centerfielder" type of safety, and team officials say that Sean is now running a 4.5 forty due to the drop in weight. Now the question is will this hurt his hitting abilty? I doubt it. What... he only weighs 212lbs.... Brandon Jacobs is going to love this. MTK 06-20-2007, 05:17 PM I'd still put my money on Taylor against just about anybody when it comes to hitting. I was thinking of starting a thread about this actually. Seems like a lot of guys on the team have really taken it upon themselves to come to camp ready and serious about winning. I think Gibbs' "hands-off" policy this spring played a big role in that. It's the whole "treat us like adults, we'll act like adults" concept. We talk about class in another thread. I think this an element of that. Having the class to come prepared to work when it's time to get down to work. firstdown 06-20-2007, 06:14 PM Good point. Taylor losses weight and some say he is too small, Lloyd gains weight and some say he is doping. dallass-blows 2 06-20-2007, 06:47 PM What... he only weighs 212lbs.... Brandon Jacobs is going to love this. haha. i cant wait for that meeting. i still think ST will knock BJ the f out. on a different note i believe that ST will be more like a ED Reed, who hits very hard and is only 5'11'' and 200 lbs. EXoffender 06-20-2007, 08:25 PM This is a great sign. It shows that Sean is ready to assume the role that G-dub has laid out for him. Why would this make him injury prone? If anything he is probably in better shape than ever. It sounds like he will be thinking ball first end career second. He is going to have a break out year!I like how you think. 70Chip 06-20-2007, 08:50 PM Good point. I was thinking of starting a thread about this actually. Having the class to come prepared to work when it's time to get down to work. I get this vibe too, but then I wonder if I am being spun. Lacking big name free agents they've decided on the hard work angle. But, Gibbs does seem to have his jaw pretty firmly set. I think he gave them the old, "you guys have embarrassed me for the last time" speech after the Friend leak and they seem to have taken it to heart. I'd give anything to have a transcript of that meeting. At any rate, we can be proud of this team. They seem to be mostly stand up guys. It's going to be a great season. I can feel it. Not the usual feeling of past years which was like when your wife/girlfriend asks if her butt looks big (not at all, sweety), but genuine excitement. |
