I used to work in a movie theater in all aspects of it for at least eight years while going through high school and college and I definitely had a majority share of annoying people coming through the doors.

I also found that is was my place to basically respond with whatever I get treated with. Even if I was having a crappy day, as long as someone was nice to me, I had a hard time not being nice back.

Just as firstdown said, these are the same people bitching because they're stuck in this job the rest of their lives. Just as I complained about bad customer service, I'm also calling to report exceptional service as well. If anything ever stands out in my mind, it's someone working a crappy job who goes above and beyond for me.

Nothing is worse than a pissed off stripper.
They are nice when asking for a dance but when it's time to start grinding, they have to mention how much they hate life.

Yeah, it's always about how they are "working through school". What? You mean supporting your drug habits?

Those people put up with a lot of shit man. Unbelievable shit. I've seen people being dickish to people who are new and are clearly are in the training process. I have seen people bitch about someone not speaking "proper" English. If someone is having a bad day, they are having a bad day. You bitching is only going to compound the problem.

The stupidest guy I have ever witnessed was at GMU Fin Aid office. This idiot thought it might be a good idea to trash the front desk people who don't have control over the Fin process. For about 5 min he was saying f'this, f'that, f'you, I don't think he skipped one curse word in the English language. Guess what ended up happening? Everyone put on their mean mug face and everyone who came through that day didn't get the worm reception they deserved. It was all business and no smiles for the day. I don't condone it, but I understand.

If someone is having a bad day or isn't providing quality service to you simply talk to them. Say something funny, make them smile. Don't put on a mean mug of your own. Say something nice. I always find people more personable if you tell them how bad of a day you had, even if you didn't have one. Just be more, you know, personable and relate to them.

When you work in government or law enforcement, people just expect you to be an asshole. I usually give people more information than they actually need when they come to the jail. When I do that, they look at me like I'm an alien. I can't count the number of times people have said, "you're the first person to actually take the time to explain to me what's going on."

Issuing gun permits is another story. I get so many idiots applying for permits and most of them can't follow simple instructions. What is it about "you can't be a convicted felon or you can't have a domestic violence conviction" that people don't understand? Only to have them say, "durrrr... but that was ten years ago. I thought it come off my record." No it doesn't, you redneck dumbass. It never comes off. You just thought I wouldn't find your conviction and you wasted my time running your record. I seriously want to reach through the glass and smack them upside the head.

I do real estate research at the courthouses in my area and every courthouse has a big sign on the way in that says what you can't bring in like mace, knives, cameras, etc. Why the F can't people understand that you can't bring your CAMERAphone into the courthouse and then have the balls to argue with the deputies about it and hold everyone else up who can read the Fing sign. I'm done.

I know what you mean. We have actually had people come in the jail with video cameras and proceeded to walk around and record the layout of the visitation area. What?!!! One chick got really pissed off when we explained to her that you weren't allowed to videotape a SECURED AREA without permission. She said we were approaching her in a "threatening manner", but she wouldn't explain to us why she was videotaping. We found out later she was the sister of a fugitive we were holding who was classified as an escape risk. A few weeks later another lady came in and claimed she was shooting a documentary.

Yeah, a lot of people in those positions are in a transition period of their life. Few people will make a career out of working at McDonalds. I've seen people be complete and utter assholes to people. I saw someone toss a milkshake on a guy who didn't even make or give him his milkshake. He was just pissed that he had the wrong flavor and threw it at the guy.

Anything with customer service is hard. Seeing as how I'm sarcastic and don't deal with assholes or bumbling idiots well I typically stay out of that field. However, everyone has bad days. And TMC, I believe I've heard you say "It's Friday, why does everyone keep bothering me god damnit" when someone just wants you to do your damn job with a smile =p

When I used to work at McDonalds there was this guy that was just as fat as me treated this customer like crap. Well he came back on my shift and threw tomatos and ketchup on me. I was like "What the fuck man!!!!!!!!!" Then he realizes it was not me so he tried to apologize and I am like "fuck off" So I quit that crap.

And punched the guy who worked with me.
