skinsfan242 06-13-2007, 01:31 PM I think the Redskins had the best offseason in the league! They attacked every weakness they believed to be important. Lost only one player who made any sort of contribution. Established depth at every position on the team. Who has 5 CB's as good as the skins? Who has the safety depth we have? Who has the RB depth we have? Who has the LB depth we have? Who has the oline depth we have? Dare I say it, we actually have some QB depth. The only place I see any depth issues is DE and DT, but we still have 3 quality DE's and we have only have two quality DT's. We have some other DT's Salavea and Montgomery that could provide quality depth and a few DE's that may provide some in Demetric Evans and this guy Hickman.
I honestly do not see a hole on this team at all. Our starting 22, is as good as anyones in the entire NFL.
We have the coaches and their systems in place. This is going to be our year. We are going to wear teams down with Portis & Betts, beat them over the top with Moss and in the middle with Cooley.
We are going to stuff the run with Fletcher, stop the pass with a healthy Springs, Rogers, and Taylor and showdow any playmaker with Landry. As well as blitz from every direction imagible.
Plus everyone is sleeping on us. Am I the only one who sees this? Why don't we start looking at the good of this team instead of nitpicking?

I dont agree with that because they didn't address the D line at all. By far the best off-season was the Pats. They got Randy Moss for a 4th round pick! On top of getting Dante Stallworth, Adalius Thomas, Wes Welker, they are stacked at the reciever position not to mention the fact that they got their safety in Merriweather, and with their second 1st round pick they traded out to get an additional 1st round pick for next year. By far the New England Pats had the best off-season.

I agree with the Skins assessment. Absolutely no attention to an aging oft injured D-line, after a season which clearly showed a lack of pass rush and ability to stop the run. Personally, I think the 49ers had the best off season and I look for them to go into the playoffs this year.

The 49ers dont have a snowballs chance in hell of making the playoffs. Sorry for putting that but I really think they are overrated.
freddyg12 06-13-2007, 02:08 PM kind of ironic; skinsfan242 talks about depth & overall low-key signings, and his post is followed by kudos for Pats & Niners, both of whom did what synder has made the skins known for; bought big name/big $ free agents.
I don't know if we had the best offseason, but I think we did pretty well. WE can debate the d-line situation, but we do have some youth there if they pan out; Carter, Golston, Montgomery, plus solid vets when healthy.
It's kind of funny that media & fans seem to applaud big offseasons like the Pats just had, yet are quick to say you can't buy a team in free agency & must build through the draft. I know, Bellicheck is the difference, but he hasn't had this many big names come in at 1 time, it will be a challenge for them to develop chemistry & live up to expectations.
skinsfan242 06-13-2007, 02:08 PM As Skins fans you should know that grabbing the headlines does not equal the best offseason. Granted the Pats are the Pats but they have never had an offseason like this so who knows how it will turn out. The 49ers won't be any better than last year.
paulskinsfan 06-13-2007, 02:19 PM The 49ers have Frank Gore who rushed for nearly 1700 yards, and a revamped Defense which includes Patrick Willis and Nate Clements. They were 7-9 last year. Two more wins gets them into the playoffs.

Would you have said that had the Skins got those same players? The Skins make a big splash, BOOM, we overpay. The Patriots do the same and instantly they have the best offseason. I'm with who said the 49ers. They made some GREAT draft picks and some great FA acquisitions.

wont happen walt harris had a fluke year last year and i dont see frank gore running for 1700 yards again they will be 6-10 again
firstdown 06-13-2007, 02:23 PM The reason the Skins get bashed or laughed at for making a big splash in the past freeagent markets has nothing to do with the media bashing the Skins. It has to do with all the money that has been spent, all the big names signed, etc.. and nothing except a 2005 playoff win to show for it. Until we can put the wins on the board to show that our spending is working then thats the way it will be.
