I've often thought Springs would move to Safety as his days as a Corner are getting shorter.

I mentioned that in 2004, when we first offered a deal to Butler. Some here didn't take too kindly to that thought it seemed

Skins.com just had an article completely ruling that out:

One thing is certain: Springs will not transition to safety, a move that he discussed shortly after the 2006 season. Springs had said that he preferred playing cornerback, but he thought he could move to safety to help prolong his NFL career.
The Redskins have positioned Sean Taylor at free safety and rookie draft pick LaRon Landry at strong safety. The team also has quality depth in safeties Pierson Prioleau, Omar Stoutmire, Vernon Fox and Reed Doughty.

I would have only wanted that had we not addressed safety in the draft.

Well he does toss in that Butler's health is a big if, which it is, and he mentions Springs' health concerns and his big cap #.

If the Skins can somehow land a big name DE, I would think that Springs could definitely be on the chopping block to clear up room.

I completely agree with you. Springs is gone if we get a DE that will make a difference for us.
