OK, I know I'm an idiot cause I did this to myself when I was being a pain in the butt to my wife. I took her ice cream spoon and went to lick it quickly and hit the bottom of one of my top front teeth. It chipped the bottom of it, and you can only tell it's chipped if you get up VERY close to it. So it's not a very big chip. So my question is will this cause my tooth to decay or anything like that? I've never chipped a tooth before.

My tooth is chipped a tiny bit just like yours. I just noticed it a few months ago, and I think the dentist told me it wasnt a big deal. But if you go there they can file it down around it, so you cant even notice anything.

I walked into a military cargo bed trailer face first 8 years ago. I chipped my tooth and I guess it recovered by itself, because it isn't chipped anymore.

i bit down on a fork and chipped my tooth. They can either file it down, or they even can attach a fake piece of tooth to it to make it a full one again.

if it isnt too bad, they will file it. a bigger chip and they can bond it to get the right look. the biggest chip and they will need to cap it

As long as you brush your teeth it wont be a problem from a decay standpoint unless it is chipped in such a way that food justs will sit in it. dmek is right on about what can be done. If it is small enough it will wear away in a couple years.

I chipped the corner of one of my front teeth a long time ago, not a big deal. Like someone already said you can just have your dentist file it and you won't even know it happened. Either that or just find a big ol' piece of sandpaper and go to work on it!

This thread rates pretty highly on the unintentional comedy scale!

I had this happen and had it repaired... then it happened again. They repaired it again but is kept feeling uncomfortable. Turns out there was an infection in the root that led to a root canal. You should at least get it checked out.
