skinsfan_nn 06-09-2007, 12:39 PM Well now that the QB picture is clear in Miami, our old fo Trent at the helm, how do you think we size up against the Fins for week one?
We know they have a good defense. With our EX SKIN QB's veteran leadership it could be just what they need to be a much improved team.
They still lack high caliber talent on the offensive side of the ball. There veteran WR's are Marty Booker & Chambers, & Rookie, Ginn. There RB tandem is weak with Chatman & Brown as there top two RB's. There O-line is decent at best.
I'm glad we are starting out the season against this team at home, I believe the 12th man will be just what the Dr. ordered for Trent & Co.
I believe we WILL WIN this game at home, but it will be a hard fought tight game.
freddyg12 06-09-2007, 12:51 PM Mike, ready for that opening game? sounds like it, I know I am.
I think it will be a tough game, but I do believe we'll win & I really feel that Gibbs will hammer it into the team's head that they can't start off the year like last year in Minn.
I would be pleasantly surpised if our O is hitting on all cylinders in week 1, but I do expect it to be pretty sharp. I think we will eventually wear them down & their O isn't good enough to dominate the clock.
The dolphins are one of those teams that might totally suck, or they could be 9-7 at best IMO.
Defensewins 06-09-2007, 01:06 PM I think alot more wil depend on our development, in particular Jason Campbell. The offense and Jason are such a huge wild card in how well we do next year alot will depend on his play.
With the affordable but yet decent additions to our defense through the draft and FA, I have confidance Williams will turn the defense around. He has the right pesonel this time. The corners and safety we picked up are going to make a huge difference.
The time it takes the offense to hit all cylinders will be the key. Will it be ready for game 1 or game 5; that will tell it all.
EARTHQUAKE2689 06-09-2007, 01:10 PM To be completely honest, right now I think it will be a defenive struggle drag out game. Trent Green although he is a very old guy according to NFL aging, he is still a very accurate quarterback who gets the job done and still makes mistakes. Also, Jason Campbell even though he has started 7 games in the NFL has not started a season as the unquestioned starter, although he really showed some flashes of excellence he has not started a season opener (butterflies all over again) and that might cause him to be too erratic and make some unneccessary pass that could end up being turnovers. Not to mention he has not face a defense this good before. (The Eagles are good yes but the Dolphins are alot more consistent and better.) So to be honest the game rests on four very important aspects:
1. Can Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts keep their defense off balance with the running game?
2. Will Jason Campbell ignore the butterflies, not get happy feet in the pocket, and not try to do too much?
3. Can our run defense show that 2006 was a fluke and that we are better than that and shut down Ronnie Brown? (Who to this point hasnt shown alot to be worthy of a second overall pick but has showed enough to be seriously accounted for.)
4. Can our Defense not give Trent Green enough time to pick us apart like most QB's did last year? Because we know if he has the time that he needs it will be a long day for us.
But, I see the game being decided on a defensive play in the 4th quarter like a fumble recovery or an interception that goes on into the endzone.
Redskins 24
Dolphins 17
skinsfan69 06-09-2007, 01:27 PM No way 37 year old Trent Green comes into Fed Ex and beats us. Miami may have a decent defense, but they stink on offense. Wash 20 Miami 10.

Let's not forget we said the exact same thing about Brad Johnson and the Vikings last year. If we have laerned anything over the past couple of years is don't underestimate anyone

KUDOS! On to week one I really think Trent will be the BEST QB they have had in some time. Could care less about his age, the guy still has game, something they have lacked in the QB dept.
I'm really glad we are at home for opening week. We HAVE to come out of the gates FIRING this season make a statement EARLY, winning the close ones as we should!
This is gonna be a really good game. We WILL WIN but it's gonna be a hard fought VICTORY! SKINS=28
FINS= 24

To add on to what you just said we really need to stop trying to act so cute with the playcalling. We must remember what works hand the ball to Portis and Betts and let them run behind that massive offensive line. Also, bring back the reciever screen for Santana. Worked in 2005. If it isnt broke dont fix it.
