People Crying Over A Dying Whale???????????????
Portis Apologizes For Dog Fighting CommentJDALY27 06-06-2007, 04:07 PM People Crying Over A Dying Whale??????????????? irish 06-06-2007, 04:12 PM I'd be willing to bet there are people that would be amazed at how much some of us love a professional football team. They might be amazed at the depth & breadth of the love but they are aware that football teams are loved. MTK 06-06-2007, 04:15 PM They might be amazed at the depth & breadth of the love but they are aware that football teams are loved. That seems to be what he's saying, I don't think he's saying he had no idea people loved their animals, I just don't think he realized the depth and breadth as you say: "I had no idea the love that people have for animals or didn't consider it when I made those comments," Portis said. "I'm not even a pets man. I've got a fish — that's the easiest thing to keep up. I've never been into dogs, never dealt with dogs, don't like playing with dogs. But at the same time, there's a lot of people who are crazy over pets." irish 06-06-2007, 04:20 PM That seems to be what he's saying, I don't think he's saying he had no idea people loved their animals, I just don't think he realized the depth and breadth as you say: "I had no idea the love that people have for animals or didn't consider it when I made those comments," Portis said. SmootSmack 06-06-2007, 04:32 PM Having or not having pets, I find it amazing (impossible?) that anyone who is even remotely aware of the world around them could live in the USA in the 21st century and not be aware that people become very attached to their pets. I dont think people should be losing sleep over this but I do think it tells us a lot about CP's character & intellect. I'm probably not alone in thinking that your opinion is clouded somewhat by the fact that you have admittedly been rather disgusted with the team as a whole for the last few years; to the point that even good news/decisions are received by you with a rather negative response. So that an ignorant, unknowingly harmful statement by Portis is met by extreme derision on your part. If I recall though, you've never been a fan of Portis, saying he wasn't tough enough, or a hard-worker (something along those lines). You're entitled to your opinion of course. But am I very off base in thinking this? MTK 06-06-2007, 04:57 PM Thats not how I interpreted it. He says it pretty clearly at the end, he says he has no interest in dogs but he knows there are people that are crazy about them. He probably didn't understand just how crazy people are. He's not a robot, I'm sure he knew that people loved their pets, he just didn't realize the degree to which people love them. ArtMonkDrillz 06-06-2007, 06:38 PM I just finally got around to reading the article about Vick's case in last week's SI and I found something rather interesting. The next time some cowboys fan tries to give you crap about Portis' comments just remind them that back in 1991 that moron Nate "400lbs of weed" Newton was arrested while at a dogfight. (http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/05/25/nate-newton-doesnt-discuss-dog-fighting-on-nfl-network/) It might not be much, but I always love having a retort for other teams' fans' comments. hooskins 06-06-2007, 07:09 PM I just finally got around to reading the article about Vick's case in last week's SI and I found something rather interesting. This is great AMD, because I know my friends(Boys fans) at school are gonna give me shit. This really should shut them up. hooskins 06-06-2007, 07:13 PM I'm probably not alone in thinking that your opinion is clouded somewhat by the fact that you have admittedly been rather disgusted with the team as a whole for the last few years; to the point that even good news/decisions are received by you with a rather negative response.
