Madden To Incorporate Real-Time Injury and Weather Conditions

This is pretty awesome (do the kids still say "awesome" anymore?):


Beginning in August, thanks to a deal with The Weather Channel, a Madden ‘08 NFL game at the Baltimore Ravens’ stadium automatically will be set in the snow if it happens to be snowing that day on Maryland’s Atlantic coast.

Similar innovations soon will allow an option to incorporate current sports news and statistics from ESPN into the game.

“So if a guy in the real world twists his ankle, you can’t use him in the game until he gets back,” said Aaron LaBerge, senior vice president of technology and product development for ESPN.

Sounds pretty cool. I'm really getting pumped for Madden '08, sounds like it should be much more than just your typical roster change and a small tweak here or there. It seems like they're giving the game a much needed facelift

Most next-gen games are $60 now anyway.

I don't think that's bad considering video games have always hovered around $50 going back to the Atari days.

Let's hope they fix the game play first.

Flashy extras aren't what the game needs.

madden is so played out. i'm looking forward to the return of a 2k sports football game which is due out in August. I look for 2k8 to put the hurt on madden sales.
