I've always said that when I'm an old man I want to sit on my front porch with a garden hose so that I can soak anyone who dares to touch my lawn, but this guy went a little overboard.
On a serious note, how could the jury not agree that this was pre-planned?
Prosecutors alleged Martin had confronted the teen earlier in the day when he walked into Martin's yard on his way to a friend's house, then loaded his .410-gauge shotgun and waited more than three hours for him to return.
When the boy stepped on the lawn again, Martin fired at him twice, according to testimony. He then called police, telling a dispatcher: "I just killed a kid."
Martin was tried on aggravated murder but convicted of murder, a lesser count, because jurors because could not agree the killing was planned.
He waited 3 HOURS for the kid to return!!! Was that not enough time to say to himself "hey, maybe shooting him with a f'ing shotgun might be a bit much"?
I hope he becomes a prison bitch on his first day in the clink.

And he shot him TWICE! I could see if he only shot him once but not twice.

exactly what i was about to write AMD. 3 hours is long enough to decide whether you really want to do something.
I remember hearing about this story a long time ago too. I am g;lad he'll spend the rest of his life in jail. He better not get parole later in life.

I don't care if he gets paroled after about 10 years, so long as he is forced to move into a halfway house with a really shitty lawn.

Not a smart old man! All he needed to do was to fire a shot or two in the air and the kid never would have come back.
We really do live in a sick F'd up world

that is what i am saying and his defense was that he really cared for his lawn and cut it every five days what the f**k is worng with this guy. The world is a very crazy sick place so that is just ridiclous i hope he becomes the prison bitch everyday of his sentence. What a jackass

Good lesson for parents to teach their kids, though. If you want to disturb someone else's property then be ready to get your head blown off. This is the world we live in. Let the gun control debates rage on.
My heart does go out to the boy's parents, though. This is a terrible thing to happen to anybody and I hope the old guy suffers just as much as the victim's family.
