It would be sweet for the Redskins to go to the Superbowl in 2011. Imagine how great it would be to see at least 60k Redskin fans engulf dallas streets, bars and restaurants

So does this mean Dany Boy is going to build a bigger stadium for the Skins. I love how JJ has to make sure his stadium is the biggest in the NFL. Someone has a little compensation problem.. lol.

The design still looks like a toilet and the people sitting inside it basically make it a billion dollar crapper.

I love it when people speak from the heart like this - so moving. I like the fact that you avoided metaphor as well. It's not like a toilet, it is a toilet! Brilliant. The line of the year.

Maybe more competition than compensation. JJ's idea is not just being able to host the SB which will be huge for the city of Dallas, but he'll also have the distinction of being able to say he has the largest stadium in the league. I doubt he will generate as much revenue as the Redskins, but I would bet it's one of his concerns.

mlmpetert:

If 60,000 Skins fans go to Dallas because the Skins are in the game, most of them will be watching the game from their hotel or in a sports bar. With all the tix that the NFL gives out to corproate partners and VIPs, there won't be 60,000 seats left for fans of any team - let alone one team.

Last year, the Bears got their ticket allocation from the league for the game in Miami. After the team gave tix to players and coaches and local sponsors, there were fewer than 1000 tickets to hand out to the loyal season ticket holders. Anyone else who wanted to go had to play "Internet prices" for tickets and by gametime most of them were in the range of $1000 a seat for "decent seats".

Oh, and the Miami season ticket holders didn't do all that much better so even if Danny Boy finds a way to get a stadium with a roof on it, don't think that the loyal Redskin season ticket fans will see any huge wad of tix coming their way. They'll probably have 1500 for season ticket holders and they'll do it by lottery - - one of course that no one will witness...

What a shame that Jerry Jones is going to pocket some extra cash from this game. Still though, even though I hate the Cowboys more than any team in all of sports, it does look like that new stadium in Dallas will be quite a structure, so it will be cool to have a Super Bowl there. Hopefully by that time the Redskins dynasty will be in full bloom and dominating the NFC East as well as the entire league, it would be sweet to win a Super Bowl in Dallas!!

I hope we are in the big game before 2011. We probably won't have Gibbs and many of our core guys by 2011. Shoot we might have a new QB for all we know, but I do share your sentiment. I could wait a few more years for a SB, but rather have one sooner than later. Besides Dallas, dome or not can be a crappy place to be in in late Jan or early Feb. Might not be as bad as having one in Detroit, but freezing rain is not uncommon in Dallas in winter. I rather have us play one in Miami or go back to the Rose Bowl. Those are the Best places. What they should do is always have it in Hawaii. Yeah the owners will bitch, but really, most of the NFL cities are in the Rust belt or in the Great Plains. Snow city!!!! Not fair to teams like Chicago, Green Bay, NE, Buffalo, etc to always have them in domes or warm spots. Just make it a neutral site in Hawaii.

Did I hear a complaint about freezing rain? The Washington Redskins don't give a shit about freezing rain. We walked into Soldier Field and punched the Bears in the face on more than one occasion in January. We play in the NFC East, the toughest division in the history of the NFL. Let it rain snow or be 15 below.

Freezing rain, what a joke.

I don't follow. It's not fair to teams like Chicago, Green Bay, etc. to always have the games in warm spots...so they should always play in Hawaii?
