Forgive me if these little tidbits are common knowledge, I've been known to drop behind the times when it comes to new music...

New albums this summer, due out from:

Queens of the Stone Age - "Era Vulgaris" due on June 12th
Beastie Boys - "The Mix-Up" due on June 26th
Smashing Pumpkins - "Zeitgeist" due on July 7th

I'm not a Queens fan that much, but I know we have some fans around here. However, the Beasties are one of my all-time favorites; supposedly they're getting back to the drums, guitar, and bass setup that led to the funky sounds of their early stuff from Licensed to Ill and Check Your Head. And I used to LOVE the Smashing Pumpkins back in high school and college, so I'm excited to hear what Billy's got for us.

MCA, where have you been? Packed like sardines in a tin! So kick off your shoes and put on your swim fins, cause when it comes to quarries I'm known to swim!

That's the first I've heard of a new QOTSA album, I'm really looking forward to that.

I heard the new Beasties is going to be all instrumental with no lyrics... not sure how I feel about that. I'm sure it will be great, but I was really looking forward to a full release from them.

Here's a review of the new album

I really liked "in sounds from the way out" and have been a Beastie Boys fan for as long as I can remember.

I'm really excited for this release, and I read somewhere that they would follow up the album with a collaboration incorporating many different artists, most notably "Snoop Doggy Dogg".

My favorite Beasties song to this day is probably their song with Q-tip on Ill Communication. This collaboration talk has got me all kinds of excited.

"I'm the king of BOGGLE there is none HIGHER, I gets eleven points off the word QUAGMIRE"

For your viewing pleasure...

The video is sabatoge-esque with a little James Bond feel to it. I love it.
