NFL looking to reduce time between draft picksEARTHQUAKE2689 05-17-2007, 09:40 PM i think they should shorten them SmootSmack 05-17-2007, 09:47 PM What do you all think of having the draft begin on Friday night? Oh, and no offense taken 70Chip If you start Friday night at 7 in the east and did 10 minutes for the first round, you would be done before 12:30 at the latest. Then they could start with the 2nd round at 8 the next morning (5 minutes) and be done around midnight at the latest. I like the idea. skinsfan_nn 05-17-2007, 09:55 PM Me personally, I like the Sat. start, it would be nice if they started a little bit earlier, like in the am. 10ish. So it did't run into the pm. Just my opinion. Would not care for a friday start at all. Riggo44 05-17-2007, 10:09 PM Thank God ! The draft takes way too much time. I mean and hour for the first four picks ? Seriously ? It shouldn't take that f'n long. Get in there and get out. I agree, I think this quote sums it up pretty well. "I find it a rather tedious bore. Teams use up their limit of fifteen minutes deciding their selection when they've had an entire year, spent thousands of dollars on scouting and computerized systems, but, if someone takes a player before someone else, there is a sudden complete revision in everyone's thinking. It's utterly absurd and a manifestation of inefficiency." Howard Cosell. MonkFan4Life 05-18-2007, 12:53 AM I like Saturday but if you say 12:00 start the effin thing at 12. I don't need an hour of pregame and then have to wait another 25 min for the friggin bell to ring. Believe me I love the NFL as much as the next guy it's just they really understand the fanbase that they have. Keep it Saturday and Sunday, if they do Friday night think about when it would end. 32 teams at say 10 mins what I think is a good amount of time to decide on a pick, that's about 5 hours 20 min WORST case senario. So 8:00 would be a good start time and you're looking at the first round ending around 1-1:30AM. Only to start early the next morning. It's too much if you ask me. Saturday and Sunday are good just knowck that time down. Also I think the team with the first pick should have 5 min because HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHOOSE? YOU'VE HAD ALL SUMMER LOSER ! Sorry for yelling EARTHQUAKE2689 05-18-2007, 01:11 AM I like Saturday but if you say 12:00 start the effin thing at 12. If they didn't, they shouldn't be part of any NFL FO. It( Draft) is way overhyped and totally overplayed in significance. Most of the draftees will not make much of an impact at all with the exception of the teams low on the totem pole so to speak. Half of them are busts after 2 seasons. A fellow poster mentioned Bergman, and in a way ESPN helped create the present day monster with their coverage of this event like it was something of large significance. Using our draft as an example, only Landry and maybe two others will make the team, and even that will be a stretch, with most of them relegated to being practice squad rejects or NFL Europe exiles.
