ArtMonkDrillz 05-16-2007, 10:01 AM I think they tell you how to ween yourself off it in the movie Trainspotting:
Relinquishing junk. Stage one, preparation. For this you will need one room which you will not leave. Soothing music. Tomato soup, ten tins of. Mushroom soup, eight tins of, for consumption cold. Ice cream, vanilla, one large tub of. Magnesia, milk of, one bottle. Paracetamol, mouthwash, vitamins. Mineral water, Lucozade, pornography. One mattress. One bucket for urine, one for feces and one for vomitus. One television and one bottle of Valium, which I've already procured from my mother, who is, in her own domestic and socially acceptable way also a drug addict. And now I'm ready. All I need is one final hit to soothe the pain while the Valium takes effect.
...wait, maybe he was talking about heroin.
BdBohnzie, my mom and sister both tried using pills like that, my sister quit for like 6 months with them and then went back to it, my mom the same deal. I havent tried them although i feel as if, if i were to quit for 6 months the urge to light up would be nearly gone, maybe ill pay a visit to the doc.
BEWARE...everybody hits a wall sometime. Mine came at about 3 months, and the first time I started again. The second time I made it. That was 8 years ago.
DON'T give up!!!
djnemo65 05-16-2007, 10:14 AM I remember back in '96 or so you could get smokes at Wal-Mart for $2.10 a pack. A carton for less than $20! Those days are long gone that's for sure.
Yeah, back in 95 I lived in West Virginia and it was 1.53 at Sheetz for Camels and Marlboros. I remember saying I'd quit when they hit 3 dollars, then 4, then 5, and there I was still smoking.
But for me the toughest thing about quitting was no longer being part of the smoking group at work. I was suddenly ostracized, and no longer invited to the cool parties. I felt as if I'd gotten a swastika tattooed on my forehead.

Lets seeee.........West Virginia........so when you quit smoking, you were good for a weekly sleeve of Copenhagen down at "the" Walmart.
West Virginia......somebody had to do it!

Hey buddy, I've driven through Florida many times, and had many Floridian customers at my old job. Don't kid yourself into thinking large parts of that state aren't as bad as West Virginia.
I consider Pennsylvania my home state (my family has lived there since 95. I moved around a lot as a kid so that's the longest they've been anywhere). James Carville once said about Pennsylvania that it's just Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with West Virginia in between.
Au Contraire D65,
I totally agree about Florida. We have many "natives" that take a backseat to nobody on the Hillbilly scale. I think Texas may be worse, but not sure (as I have lived there as well).
Additionally, I spent about 15 years running around Northern W.Va in my youth. Incredible state, and some of the best times of life.
I just could not resist the odd shot

Supposedly Chantix is a breakthrough when it comes to this kind of therapy. Good luck.

What part did you live in? I lived in Shepherdstown, right on the panhandle.

Scherr area, about 20 miles Northwest of Romney. Pretty remote area. We had a little farm (100 acres) we leased out, but I spent a hell of a lot of time up there.
Monkeydad 05-16-2007, 12:21 PM Here's a tip...begin the practice of making yourself put the ciggy out on your forehead whenever you get weak and have one. You'll get sick of that pretty quickly.
