Obligatory PFT post:

TAYLOR NOT PUSHING FOR NEW CONTRACT, YET

A league source tells us that the decision of Redskins safety Sean Taylor to skip the first week of offseason practices (known as Organized Team Activities) and to show up for the second week of workouts is unrelated to his contract, or any lack of satisfaction therewith.

Though Taylor was unhappy with his contract not long after it was signed nearly three years ago, he is confident (we're told) that the deal will be renegotiated at the appropriate time.

There is some thought that a new deal could come after the 2007 season.

Taylor was the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft. In the past, he has spent most of the offseason in Miami. The team was under the impression that he would show up for the first week of OTA's, and some players reportedly concluded that his absence was related to unhappiness with his contract.

I watched the live interview with ST on Redskin.com, he was actually well spoken. Said the contract was not or has never been an issue. It would be dealt with when they time came, I was impressed.

Went further to say he had a seven year deal with the Skins and everyone was real excited to be back and ready to get to work. He was glad to be back with the guys, maybe the young buck is growing up. It sure was nice to see him on the field. I get the feeling he will not be any problem or distraction at all, more of a good team mate that want's to get us where we want to go. ALL THE WAY!

I'm just glad he is there. Maybe he decided that he likes th idea of there being a new defensive system in place for him. More likely, Rosenhaus told him it will be harder to get a fat new contract for a guy that doesn't do anymore than the bare minimum at practices.

The fact is that Taylor will deserve a huge contract if he can prove that he has matured and becomes a leader at Redskin's park as well as on the field. Sean being there is good for everyone, especially him.

I'm glad you've also noticed this. Taylor has come a longway from his thuggin days in Miami. I'm not sure if yall saw him on the probowl special when he participated in the obstacle course but he was interacting with all the other players and seemed to be having fun which is far from how he was when he entered the league. He has matured alot and there is no doubt in my mind he in Landry are gonna be boys before long. Another thing that I think has been ignored is Drew. I guarantee he was called during this "holdout" and told a contract was imminent and to get Sean's ass to camp and had no problem doing just that. I love the fact that the baddest agent on the planet is boys with Dannyboy and from what I have seen a Redskin at heart.

not to rehash the entire thread, but someone was agreeing on Taylor holding out because of a contract issue, and your post was " yeah, what he said". thats why you made the list. it was all in good fun.

Who cares? Joe Gibbs.

Everyone who said that it won't be an issue, you are right, because Taylor will have a new deal in place before the season starts (mark my words).

Whoever thinks that he has no leverage and that he should honor the contract that he signed, welcome to the year 2007.

I'm not letting you off the hook on this one Grim.
