I think an average of 25 points sounds reasonable.
How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?skinsguy 05-12-2007, 12:14 PM I think an average of 25 points sounds reasonable. Duffman003 05-12-2007, 12:50 PM wooo wooooo http://www.adiumxtras.com/images/pictures/bubb_rubb_soundset_3_3549_2144_image_2470.png that's them whistles son WWWWOOOOOOO skinsfan_nn 05-12-2007, 01:18 PM In Kansas City, Saunders offense averaged 30.2 pts/game in both 2003 and 2004 while in 2005, his offense averaged 25.2 pts/game. He averaged 393, 418, and 387 yds/game in 2003, 2004, and 2005 respectfully. Even in 2005 (what looks like his off year), his offense was ranked 6th in the league in pts/game but 1st in yds/game. Before people start talking about all the talent he had to work with, please note that in 2006, without Saunders, Kansas City dropped to 16th in the league in total offense with 321 yds/game (Note: Washington was 13th), and 15th in the league in scoring (Washington was 20th). There are also some good numbers to look at in Saunders bio. I'm sure people know how to find this, but it's a good read if you haven't seen it in a while. It gets me excited. http://www.redskins.com/team/cprofile.jsp?id=15156 With this in mind, I'm going with between 25 and 30 pts/game for the skins this year. Nice piece of homework there.....GoSkins If we do end up putting those kind of numbers up every week, we will easily win 10 or BETTER games. SBXVII 05-12-2007, 08:28 PM Funny this post comes up now. Good job GoSkins with the info. I say funny because I was just trying to compare KC's first year with our first year on Fri. and looking at KC's second yr to have a better idea of what to expect this yr from the skins. KC's first yr was in 01 compared to our Skin's in 06: KC01(GREEN)CMP:296/SKINS(BRUNELL)CMP:162(JC)CMP:110. The two QB's for the Skins combined for 272 CMP. Close numbers. KC01(GREEN)ATT:523/SKINS(BRUNELL)ATT:260(JC)ATT:207. Again close numbers combined 467. KC01(GREEN)YDS:3783/SKINS(BRUNELL)YDS:1789(JC)YDS:1297.Skins combined for 3036 yes 700 yds is a big difference. In 01 Green had a % rate of 56.6. Brunell had a % rate of 62.3 and JC's % rate was 53.1. 01Green had 17 TD's. Brunell had 8 and JC had 10 total 18. 01Green had 24 INT. Brunell had 4 and JC had 6 totaling 10. Now in 02Green went down in CMP to 287, ATT:470,YDS:3690, % rate went up to 61.1, TD's:26,with only 13 INT's. I found this interesting because the numbers were somewhat close and in 02 knowing the offense better Green almost doubled his TD's for the year and dropped the INT's to about half. SBXVII 05-12-2007, 08:40 PM Ok now looking at Rushing yrds. 01Holms had 327 Rushes for 1555 AVG 4.8 with 1 TD. 06Betts had 245 Rushes for 1154 AVG 4.7 and 4 TD's. Portis had 127 Rushes for 523 AVG 4.1 and 7 TD's. both Skins totaled 370 Rushes for Holms 327. 1677 yds compared to Holms 1555. and 11 TD's compared to Holmes 1. Now alot played into that. The first yr KC passed more then ran and Holms was not given the ball to puch into the endzone. Saunders felt he was to small and used nother RB for that. We might have had more but we used alot of other personel for Rushing like QB's, TE's and WR's. 02Holms had 313 Rushes for 1615 yds for an AVG 5.2 and 21 TD's. He was more efficient his second yr better yrd for less rushes. This equalled more TD's. SBXVII 05-12-2007, 08:47 PM Now looking at Receiving the 01KC had 110 REC, the Skins had 123. KC had 1749 YDS, the Skins had 1682, KC had an AVG 13.0 and the Skins had 13.5, KC had 7 TD's, and the Skins had 10 TD's. KC in 02 had 123 REC, 2049 YDS, for 14 TD's. SBXVII 05-12-2007, 08:59 PM Now for the TE's. 01Gonzales had 73 REC,for 917 YDS, AVG of 12.6 and 6 TD's. Cooley had 57 REC, for 734 YDS, AVG of 12.9 and 6 TD's. Also the Skins had more TE's they were using TOTAL SKINS: 79 REC, 861 YDS, for 8 TD's. I belive the numbers were not to far off from the first yr KC and the first yr Skins. I spoke with a co-worker about this and he pointed out that in the last 4 or 5 games Gibb's took back the play calling and possibly put his run blocking back in that they had so much success with the previous yrs. This may be true because they did seem to run better but it also may be as some people have stated here that with JC teams were afraid he would throw the deep ball and backed up their safety's and it created running lanes. I can only hope that what ever they did running carries over this yr and the passing should improve according to the KC stats. EARTHQUAKE2689 05-12-2007, 09:09 PM Now for the TE's. 01Gonzales had 73 REC,for 917 YDS, AVG of 12.6 and 6 TD's. Cooley had 57 REC, for 734 YDS, AVG of 12.9 and 6 TD's. I think in the neighborhood of 25 pts/gm give or take a point or two on either end. Saunders has been so successful as a coordinator, it's actually pretty awesome. And other than Tony Gonzalez, the pass catchers on that KC team were never really anything other than role players. With Moss a legit #1 and Cooley being the stud he is, if we can get either ARE or friggin' Lloyd to step up as a legit #2, I think this offense can dominate. If Portis stays healthy he's gonna have a monster season. I like this thread. Very positive... GoSkins! 05-12-2007, 10:18 PM For the stats gurus... Professional Football Researchers Association- Pro Football History (http://www.footballresearch.com/articles/frpage.cfm?topic=great-off) good article on how to determine the effectiveness of an offense and the way turnovers effect pts/game It claims a turnover is worth 4 pts. on average. (2 lost for your team, 2 for thier team). |
