I guess so. I keep harping on Brandon Llyod because he did have the worst stats in the NFL for a #2 but he sure made a lot of money and cost a lot of picks. I know a lot of people on the board say that it was the qb who could not get him the ball and that he was getting open and just running the routes that coaches asked him to run. Well this year there are no more excuses for Llyod. Jason Campbell's arm strength from what I saw and lots of other Skins fans saw is pretty darn good. Add to that the offensive line is 4/5 intact and one of the better lines in the NFL with 2 good rushers, a star WR in Moss and a good TE in Cooley - I just don't see if he has another bad year how anyone can still defend him and still think he should be part of the team.
I won't be surprised if he's gone next year. He's got a lot to prove.
Slingin Sammy 33 05-11-2007, 04:44 PM Qoute from the article:
"Campbell has accepted receiver Santana Moss' invitation to work together in Miami after next month's minicamp. Receiver Antwaan Randle El will join them, too."
This was a good sign from the article as well. I hope that Jason and the WR's get together like the article says to really build some continuity.
My question is why won't Brandon Llyod also work with Jason - isn't he the number 2 wr on the offense? It just seems to me that this year Brandon Llyod is on the hot seat and if he does not produce I would have to think he will be gone. Wouldn't it be in Brandon's best interest to get on a plane and join Santana and ARE to get on the same page with JC?
JC will be fine, he has all the physical tools, is smart and a dedicated hard-worker.
My concern is with this excerpt from the Wash Post article on 5/9/2007 "Before the voluntary workouts began, Campbell had wanted to work out with wide receivers Antwaan Randle El, Santana Moss and Brandon Lloyd, but the dates never materialized. Moss said he hoped to reschedule with Campbell during the six weeks between the mandatory June minicamp and the start of training camp July 27."
Dates never materialized....WTF ! !
Moss, Lloyd & ARE are getting paid a load of jack and they can't schedule a couple weeks together in the off-season to run some routes and throw with their QB. Throwing between Mini-camp and Training Camp is great, but there is NO excuse why Moss, Lloyd, ARE and Cooley weren't all working with Campbell for at least a couple weeks between Feb & now. High School kids aren't getting paid jack and at the High Schools in Virginia Beach most of them are at off-season workouts (unless they are playing another sport) Mon-Thurs from Dec - July. I guess the difference is they have pride in their school and their teammates and doing what it takes to help their school win. To them it is still a game, not a job.
TenandSix:Unacceptable 05-11-2007, 07:57 PM I wanted to point out a couple things:
Has anyone seen the parallel between the running backs on the 'Skins and what JC had at Auburn? I mean, one of the knocks on Campbell coming out of college is that he might have benefited from the RB duo he played with there. Well, now he's got that at the pro level and I think it's a good thing. He knows how to operate and flourish in a two back system.
Also, I think JC is the prototype caretaker QB, but in a good way. I think he could excel at doing a lot of things well, taking care of the ball, making some plays with his feet, and distributing the ball and keeping a lot of players interested/happy. Tom Brady is the uber caretaker IMO. I think JC has the potential to really be a distributer/enabler who can put his teammates in position to win games for us. He's not a world beater type, but I think that can play into our hands in a big way if he really does make strides and develop.
On a side note, does anyone actually think someone would come out after a couple of offseason workouts and OTA's and say Campbell looks bad, that he has regressed, and that he is really slacking off? I mean, we really do have to wait and see how this plays out on the field. He was coming into the park 12 hours a week and he is the starting quarterback of the wealthiest franchise in a multi billion dollar industry. I am sorry, but I don't say "Wow, he really is working his tail off" when you tell me he's working a 12 hour week. That's barely part time where I come from (Washington, DC). However, I think it is best that he worked with Saunders and got really caught up before throwing on his own with Santana and whoever else. Now, he is really in a position to get everyone on the same page if they do go ahead with that plan to work out together after mini camp.
With all that said, I think this could be the year that our offense finally turns the corner. While everyone is so concerned about the D, you have to remember that the defense actually has a pedigree of recent success. The offense has been the enigma that we haven't been able to solve for a long time, and I think it's obvious that JC is the reason this thing will turn around if it does. He doesn't have to be superman, he just needs stay poised, manage the offense, and not be predictable enough to gameplan easily. I think he can do that.

I do hope I'm wrong, but I agree if he doesn't have a heck of a season he's outta DC. I also think he was very close this year to being chopped, I think it came down to Lloyd or Arch.

I agree it was probably a choice of AA or Lloyd. I guess the coaches thought Lloyd was the lesser of the two evils.
JGisLordOfTheRings 05-11-2007, 09:11 PM Lloyd is DEF the lesser of 2 evils. Screw AA and B-Lloyd but Llyod is young and can improve. AA is old and screwed. Not a hard decsion IMO. Llyod better step up or , I agree, He's out.

Yeah, I remember Patten comparing Ramsey to Tom Brady at one point during OTAs. I dont remember the coaches doing it though.
Im hoping for big things to happen this year.
