Schneed10 05-11-2007, 11:29 AM Hell yeah, I was saying in another thread how excited this article makes me. Young QBs with talent are so much fun to think about, nothing would impact our team more than Campbell's development.
The offense with a year's experience with Saunders, plus JC getting better acquainted and more experienced, plus a healthy Portis and Betts, it's very exciting. You just worry about left guard. But nothing would help us like a great season from JC. He's got it all, and this article makes me excited.
FRPLG 05-11-2007, 11:34 AM He basically went from 3rd team to 1st team and he played well considering the circumstances.
I totally agree. I think if you look at his play with blinders on it was just average but the context of that average play is far more important. I cannot think of one instance that he looked overmatched, scared, overwhelmed, or simply bad. He made mistakes but mostly he just looked like he had poor chemistry with the skill guys and that is all about practice and repetion.
I think back to the Days of Ramsey and how totally flustered he tended to look. Even when he was playing well you just knew he was one or two plays away from getting walloped and then he'd get up and jam the ball down and look mad. Next thing you know he looks like a highschool QB who can't do anything right. Throwing the ball into 3 coverage and losing the game. He just had so little composure. Never saw that in JC.
Hell even Brunell looked that way a lot.
JC seemed to have the confidence and composure needed. I think those two things are as important as arm strength and accuarcy in being a good QB.
Like someone said, he basically went from #3 to #1 overnight with no work with the first teamers until 1/2 way through the season.
Taking that into consideration I don't know how you couldn't come away impressed with the way he handled himself last year.
If you look at the tape from the last game against the Giants, he really looked like he was starting to take off. He was standing tall in the pocket and just picking apart the D. He was really getting in to a zone.
Paintrain 05-11-2007, 12:10 PM Very very exciting article. The more I read about Campbell and watch games from late last season I think we will have a dynamic offense this year. With Portis, Moss, Cooley and Campbell we have the best skill position players in the division.

I think we now have a potential playmaker at QB vs. a caretaker in Brunell.
jbcjr14 05-11-2007, 12:51 PM Only time will tell! I too am very stoked to see him in action again and from the comments in this article so is the rest of the team and coaching staff.
Gmanc711 05-11-2007, 12:53 PM Jason brings a versatility to the quarterback position that I dont think we've seen in Washington in...well forever. As you saw in the last game against the Giants, the kid makes plays from all over the feild. It looks like he's sacked, he has a first down, he can scramble around a little bit and makes some real good throws.
The composure you guys talk about is huge too. I still think Ramsey had the physical tools to be an exellent QB in the league (and I think thats why he is still in the leauge at this point), but mentally he was just wayyy to gone to really be successful on a consistant basis. Jason seems like he could have a bad play, series, game and still be fine the next time he takes a snap. He'll still make some mistakes, but theres ALOT to like about him right now.
hesscl34 05-11-2007, 12:54 PM Actions speak... I'm not getting excited until pre-season.
Longtimefan 05-11-2007, 01:02 PM I said when Jason was drafted that he would prove to be the best QB in his draft class. He hasn't exactly proved me to be right yet, but I'm inspired by the reviews he's getting so far. It' going to be exciting watching his continued development, as he along with the success of the defense will prove to be the keys to our season.
freddyg12 05-11-2007, 01:06 PM I've been a fan of JC since his days at Auburn even when he was whipping my Hokies in the sugar bowl. This just makes me that much more excited for the season.
I agree w/Matty, the O is not the question on this team, especially w/JC being hard at work. He's really showing the traits of a great qb, he's leading by example in the offseason.
I think Jason Campbell will have a far better career than Jemarcus Russell & B. Quinn, and I might even add vince Young to that list too. Get ready to hear Hail to the Redskins quite often.
(Disclaimer: I"m still worried about the D!)
