If he is pissed about his contract, I think he deserves an extension. I don't care what kinda message it sends. If it doesn't kill the cap, (which it probably wouldn't) it shouldn't be a problem. He's a very good player and if it can add years to his Redskins career, I'm all for it. I don't want to be worrying about his deal the way everyone is with Cooley (who should also be extended).

Dan Snyder won't miss any meals if he adds some more guaranteed money and base salary to Sean Taylor's contract.

i agree 100%

I said it makes ZERO sense to extend this (ST) player at this time, when he has several years left on his current contract WITH INCENTIVES.

What LOGICAL reason would they have to extend THIS PLAYER, NOT ALL these other names that have nothing to do with this thread?

If this was a fiscally responsible team or a team that had enough talent to tell him to pound sand then I would agree with you, however, that isn't this team.

I don't understand why we shouldn't extend him. He is a productive player and he isn't making fair market value.

The Redskins have brought this on themselves. This is what happens when you give mediocre players big money and then try to shaft your studs. It doesn't work. Maybe they will finally learn and at the same time take care of one of their own.

I think that's something that people aren't realizing. I don't have a problem with a team who spends big money on a guy who is valuable to your team and is proven in your system. However, when you have a guy who you could extend, who has been successful on your team, and then you go out and give some guy a record contract, you don't send a good message to the guys who are already in your locker room.

I personally have always felt that Sean Taylor has not produced the kind of results on that warrant a renegotiated contract (as opposed to straight up extension). He has the potential to be a stud, but he's simply not in the same class as guys like Ed Reed or Brian Dawkins of old.

While I agree that he han't performed well enough to warrent top 5 safety salary, he has outplayed his original contract. IMO.

once again those guys have amazing defenses doing their jobs so they can stay in position and not having to do everything when you have help on d that is a great thing
think back to 2004 and 2005 when he had help he was playing great everyone wants to say that taylor regressed last year that is complete and utter b!@#sh%^!

taylor is still as good as he was in 04 in fact he is better so lay off him guys the guy is still nasty and the 2nd best free safety behind brian dawkins and ed reed plays strong saftey so what is the problem the entire defense sucked last year not taylor

look at carlos rogers has he lived up to being the number9 pickhell no has taylr lived up to being number 5 yes

He's definitely out played his current deal; If there is actually a way to quantify that.

In the end I think the Redskins will do the right thing.

Do you know what deductive logic is?

Why are so many people on this site blind? I read the Post and listen to Sportstalk 980; those are my main sources and I saw this coming a mile away. In fact I predicted the possibility of a hold-out sometime last year (most likely because of the idiotic contract they gave Archuletta).

Take the blinders off people. This organization literally pisses money away on a regular basis. Sean Taylor is a universally known commodity who deserves more money than Adam Archuletta and Laron Landry. He knows that and his agent know that and I would even guess that Daniel Snyder knows that. He is a guy who will put people in the seats so he deserves to get paid. I don't know how else to explain this to those of you who think that everything is merry in Ashburn. He has not spoken to anyone in the organization in weeks. He must have forgotten that the team has OTAs...

Hooskins asked me why I am overreacting. I don't view it as overreacting to promote an extension for our best player. Now when we sign a fourth stringer like David Macklin and then people ask what are we going to do with Carlos Rogers and Sean Springs? That is overreacting.
Yes I know what that means but you are speaking as you know he is holding out and I don't care who you listen to they have know clue to what is going on. He has done this before, and did he hold out? No. he got in trouble with the law. LOL I'm just say before jumping to a conclusion which is all we could do at this point is to wait and see what happens. You say you read the post on this site but could you point us to the poster who has the inside information that ST is holding out. I'm not saying your wrong but maybe you should add a "I Think" or "in my opinion" rather than state something like its a fact.

They had better pay him like one of the best players on this team!
