ST was a steal. I'm thinking ST will probably walk after the whole contract stuff that went down between him and the Skins.
LL will most definitely sign a more lucrative contract.

thats crazy one mess up man i have never been known to "slaughter" sentences and nice family guy responses you know what grinds my gears people who use mike sellers at their picture lol j/k
commas, periods? Landry will get as much as he can. they have the rookie pool money alloted, so i think its almost pre-determined what he can get

6% over what Vernon Davis got last year. I guess the particulars are where it could get hung up. Yeah, ST has been unhappy with his contract for a while, I guess sometimes IT IS good to have such a cozy relationship with Drew Rosenhaus.

This would be a super-awesome idea....for the Skins. A terrible one for Landry. You can't spell S-T-E-A-L without ST. And now you won't be able to...spell,...umm.... L-A-U-N-D-R-Y with...out...LANDRY!

What Smooty said.
Taylor's contract was crap from the begining and the cap has gone up significantly. If he signed a contract like Taylo'rs the NFLPA might shoot his agent. Players in the 14-18 will be getting contracts like Taylor's. Landry's will be higher.
The Skins need to get moving on the Cooley deal and once that is done get Taylor re-upped. Pay him well. Over pay him a bit to keep him off the market. The last thing on Earth we need is Sean Taylor playing against us. That scares me.

After that, he will be 28 years old and on the downside of his career. We'd be smart to let him test the market at that point.
Cooley needs to be locked up now. Use the extra cap space we have and give him a 2 million roster bonus that allows us to skimp on the signing bonus. Cooley has skills that aren't replaceable. TEs with great hands who excel after the catch are very valuable and only come around every few years.

I don't know about that one. ST was robbed. Good for the 'Skins though.

So assuming that half are on one side of their prime, half on the other, my statement makes logical sense.
This is a far cry from saying that he would be a useless player. He would actually still be in his prime. But thats the crazy thing about second contracts, is that they tend to be very expensive. You don't want to be handing out an expensive contract to a safety who won't be improving. That's not assinine, thats common sense.
The Franchise Tag may be a reasonable option if we want to keep him in town for 2011. You want to make him prove to you that he can keep playing.
Theoretically, Taylor is still improving now, and his contract is great value for the next 4 seasons. We have Landry in the wings, so we aren't committed to the guy, which is a very good thing. Let him play out his contract here. If we have a ton of cap room in 2011, let him set his market value and then go pay it.
You NEVER extend a contract for a guy who has 3+ years left on it. Everybody knows that. Too much can go wrong injury-wise.
