hooskins 04-30-2007, 01:32 PM I mean the thing with Quinn is you cant draft him after 9 because Quinn is a starting QB in about a year. All those teams had stable QB issues, or already addressed it in FA. I dont think his stock slipped below 10 but his pick did because a team with a good starter and decent backup just cant draft him.
GTripp0012 04-30-2007, 01:41 PM I mean the thing with Quinn is you cant draft him after 9 because Quinn is a starting QB in about a year. All those teams had stable QB issues, or already addressed it in FA. I dont think his stock slipped below 10 but his pick did because a team with a good starter and decent backup just cant draft him.I think that every team that needed a Qb and passed on him was making a big mistake. That includes Oakland, althought they get a pass for taking the top QB on their board...they don't know any better. Obviously, the Browns rectified their decision to pass on him in a big way. But Detriot, Minnesota, and Miami especially all made very questionable decisions to pass on him. Detroit ended up with their 4th WR in 5 years and Drew Stanton--so they are really going to regret passing on Quinn. They had a great value receiver in Mike Furrey who now gets screwed because Matt Millen is still a moron, and hasn't learned anything.
A lot of teams who passed him over in the middle rounds are going to regret it, especially Buffalo who took Trent Edwards in round 3, who isn't half the QB Quinn will be, yet shows that they aren't confident (nor should they be) in JP Losman.
As I said to my friend the other day, "When an entire league is collectively stupid at the same time, dynastys are born." Long live the Browns.
Monkeydad 04-30-2007, 01:42 PM People seem to forget that this franchise takes a lot of OLineman every year. If some of the guys they took in 2006 pan out, their OL will improve immensely this year. It's not like they haven't been addressing it, it's just that the guys who played last year sucked.
After giving up like 72 sacks last year, there's no where else OTHER than up to go for that line.
GTripp0012 04-30-2007, 01:43 PM ok thats stupid the eagles draft sucked took a qb in the second round who wasnt even the 3rd best one there and what about carolina
got jon beason in the first round after trading down and picking up dwayne jarrett at 45 when most people at one point had him going at pick 7-15 and getting the best center at pick 59 where everyone says that he will be a monster and multiple probowl player and then to get charles johnson as mike rucker replacement and getting him late in the 3rd round they got maximum value for every pick the panthers made a killing in the draft hands down best draft this year addressed every need except safety and that wasnt a pressing need anywaysDude, Kolb was the 2nd best QB in this draft. Who knows, he might prove to be the best. He could conceivably be better than Quinn. He certainly won't be rushed behing McNabb.
I hate the Eagles, but I love the way they do things. They always land a bunch of value picks.
GTripp0012 04-30-2007, 02:15 PM After giving up like 72 sacks last year, there's no where else OTHER than up to go for that line.Well, yeah, and thats certainly part of my logic.
hooskins 04-30-2007, 02:28 PM Well you could say Philly fucked up by giving Dallas, a division rival, a good trade. I dont think they did too great beside the QB.
GTripp0012 04-30-2007, 02:38 PM Well you could say Philly fucked up by giving Dallas, a division rival, a good trade. I dont think they did too great beside the QB.I though Philly was money with both 2nd round draft picks. Like I mentioned before, in 4 years, it wouldn't shock me if Kolb is better than McNabb (like...ever was).
Kolb could be ready to play as early as next year, but likely has a long sit ahead of him. Which is fine because it will only serve to eliminate some of the early career mistakes from his game.
SmootSmack 04-30-2007, 11:06 PM I agree . Pitty those teams that passed on Quin if he is a franchise QB one day !
Poor Quinn got no lovin' from anyone on Saturday

EARTHQUAKE2689 04-30-2007, 11:20 PM Dude, Kolb was the 2nd best QB in this draft. Who knows, he might prove to be the best. He could conceivably be better than Quinn. He certainly won't be rushed behing McNabb.

and john beck was 4th then edwards and kolb
no offense but kolb sucked nuts and how was he valued to be better than mcnabb that was non-sense come on g tripp kolb no way man that was a dumb pick by them really stupid
GMScud 04-30-2007, 11:21 PM I've got four teams in mind- Denver, Buffalo, SF, and Cleveland.
I love Buffalo landing both Marshawn Lynch and Posluszny- both great players filling pressing needs. Plus they got Trent Edward to develop into a viable backup (maybe a starter soon) with Kelly Holcomb departing for Philly. And apparently that RB they got in the 4th round (Dwayne Wright?) was a steal.
Denver needed D-line help as badly as we did. They proceeded to get Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, and Marcus Thomas. WOW. Thomas was projected to be in the top half of the 1st rd if not for character issues. They are loaded at DL now, and man am I jealous.
San Fran- They got the best LB in the draft in Willis, the 3rd best tackle in Staley, two very solid D-lineman from Florida in McDonald and Cohen, and a good backup for Gore in Thomas Clayton. Not to mention a few good D-backs as well. They had a lot of picks and used them well.
Cleveland got Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn. That alone is awesome. Then they went out and a got Eric Wright who is probably better than Revis and Hall, but had the dreaded character issue. They picked up a few other names that slip my mind, but Quinn and Thomas are why they are on my list.
