I almost forgot about him, but will he be with the skins next year? I also forgot about the issue with his contract, if anyone cares to refresh me that would be awesome.

Springs's Status

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the Redskins chose Landry, an uncertain offseason continued for cornerback Shawn Springs. According to league sources, the Atlanta Falcons offered the Redskins a draft-day trade that included Springs and a swap of draft picks, a deal the Redskins rejected.

It was unclear what the Falcons offered in addition to the eighth pick, which Atlanta used to draft Arkansas defensive end Jamaal Anderson. The Redskins have shopped Springs on at least two occasions this offseason. The Detroit Lions have expressed interest, as did the Falcons yesterday. . . .

Gibbs said he was pleased with his defense, but said if the Redskins were to attempt to make a trade during the second day of the draft today, it would likely be to improve depth at linebacker. . . .

Wynn, who had been a candidate to be released, restructured his contract, accepting a base salary of $850,000 with a $500,000 signing bonus and an opportunity to earn $1.5 million in performance incentives. He had been scheduled to earn $2.8 million.

If ATL didn't throw in their third rounder (they had two second rounders) is probably why it was rejected.

Thanks for that, it was pretty quick.

Does anyone knows what Springs thinks about all this? I am sorry but with all the draft ish I completely forgot. I also so people in Draft Central talking about our amazing secondary next year, and they are including Springs. Will he be playing there for sure?

No problem, I don't know if he'll be playing there next year but I say we make a push to trade for Cory Redding. With Synder and Gibbs claiming that they will explore trade and FA options to take care of needs along the DL I wouldn't be surpised to see his name come up.

Don't forget Cory Simon is also out there but consider the fact that the Redskins were considering drafting Paul P. from Penn State with the 31st pick makes me a little scared about what they'll do with thier first round pick next year.

Springs might end up being trade bait, to acquire D-line help? We will not trade next years picks away, I believe we have learned that leason.

IMO we will have a FULL draft next off season.

Springs is gone. I think that is why we got Smooty back. We need a couple of young FA D linemen that don't have to be taught the pro game and can step in and make a positive impact right away, and a trade with Springs involved will be the ticket. I wouldn't be surprised if we throw in a LB also and that might explain why we drafted 2 LBs. MCIntosh or Marshall(both?) might be bye bye also.

What makes you so sure? We aren't just going to throw away our best corner and Rocky or Marshall. How would that make our team better? Smoot isn't on the same map as Springs. Next year he is definitely gone but they are not going to throw him away for nothing.
