BeastsoftheNFCeast 04-26-2007, 12:10 PM This is my first draft where i have been a true football fan who is knowledgeable, has followed the coverage, and knows whats up. Therefore I dont know how accurate all these inside sources are. Is Detroit really sold on Gaines Adams, is Cleveland really sold on Brady Quinn, ect... Should i beleive reporters who write that an inside source says that their team is going to pick somebody, should i take it with a grain of salt, or should i take it into consideration but not take it seriously. Basically what im asking is how reliable have inside sources been in the past.

It's an easy way to sort reality from fiction.
Most of the things that happen in the draft were already reported as rumors before, but sometimes the accurate rumors get buried by less logical smokescreens.
In 2005, everyone thought the Dolphins would draft Ronnie Brown, and then a rumor circulated that the Fins werent fond of him at all, so everyone took him off their mocks, and lo and behold they drafted him 2 overall.

Believe what you see on Saturday
Schneed10 04-26-2007, 12:41 PM No matter what the pundits say, nobody knows what the hell is going to happen on Saturday. Teams usually have more than one need, and usually float statements and rumors that they're enamored with more than one player. Take us for example, if given the choice between Landry and Okoye, none of us knows what the Skins are going to do. Okoye might make logical sense, but that logic is based upon the premise that we know how GW plans to use each of them. Truth is, nobody knows how the players would fit the scheme better than GW, so what makes sense to you may not make sense to him.
I think it'd be Okoye, but I don't know for sure. Inside sources hear things, but a lot of the time it's smokescreen. It's very difficult to sort the fact from fiction. Nailing the first round in a mock draft is just as hard as getting your entire bracket correct in the NCAA tourney, it's damn near impossible.
skins009 04-26-2007, 02:09 PM Don't believe anything you hear right now. There's a lot of false signals being sent. Nobody wants to show their hand.
dmek25 04-26-2007, 03:41 PM its just like anything else. if it seems like its too good to be true, it probably is

I would wager if you called and told Mortenson "I have on good authority that the Raiders are taking Gaines Adams", you bet your ass you'd see the rumor on ESPN that day. So, while some are valid, because some sources are actually valid, most have nothing else better to talk about and will listen to anyone who spews football stuff.
70Chip 04-26-2007, 04:37 PM Not very. That's what my sig is trying to say.
firstdown 04-26-2007, 04:50 PM This time of year teams will leak bad info just to throw off other teams.
