Gibbs did say yesterday regardless of position that the best player available will be drafted. If Landry is at 6 and they do not trade i would be willing to bet that Landry is a skin. I think Landry would be a great fit but it didn't work with Arch. What I'm saying is that an all star safety tandem doesn't always work like it should on paper. This lesson has been learned many times in this organization. I don't think anyone drafted will start right away. Thats how GW is.

yes if he is there when we pick, We should go ahead and draft him. I don't really see any complete def. of player in this draft beside of him. Just thinking of him team up with S.Taylor is scary for any off to face. it didn't work with AA because he can't play the pass. But landry can play that pass and run. I feel like if our def. line is healthy, we really don't need to draft any of these def. lineman of this class with the 6 overall pick. Anyone feel diff holla back

ESPN.com - NFL/DRAFT07 - Pasquarelli: This year, teams are thinking safety first (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft07/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2847400)

The more I think about it, this is the player we should take no question. Here are my top Five reasons

1. He is going to be the best defensive player in the draft
2. Gibbs loves Golston and Montgomery and says they have bulked up and are really impressing in the offseason (yesterday at the draft meeting)
3. Him next to S. Taylor would be amazing to watch and make our secondary really good for a long time.
4. No DE is worth the sixth pick
5. Although A. Okoye will be really good I just think Landry will be better for our team.

All this in mind, the best option is to trade down, but in reality it most likely won't happen and we will pick at 6th.

Someone tell me how Landry is any different than Adam Archuletta?????? The guy is a great phyical talent, hes amazing in the box, hes a hard hitter....all that sounds familar.

What else sounds familar is that Landry is weak in coverage, and better utilized in the box...hmm that sounds like a similar 30 million dollar F*** up we made...

Landry is a great player, but we need a cover safety.

I have heard from everyone that said Arch was a bad fit, that Landry will be a bad fit with Taylor as well. they say they (Taylor and Landry) are the same type of player. I had a hard time believing them about Arch in the beginning of last year, kinda hard to doubt what they are saying now.

I responded in the Merriwhether vs Landry thread as well. Everyone is goign to assume I just want Merriwhether cause hes a cane. So in this thread all im saying is that we should not draft landry.

Landry and Taylor arent the same type of player, that would be awesome if they were. Landry has potential and might learn to be a better cover safety. Taylor can cover any receiver in this league. The reason taylor didnt have as good of a year last year is because he was running around trying to cover other people players that were left open. Being a safety is so much about instinct.

Arch is not a bad safety. Hes a good safety, a traditional hard hitting safety. He was leading our team in tackles when he played. Hes great in the box, stopping the run, blitzing. but we didnt have corners last year, so he had to help in coverage, and he sucks there.

Arch is a good run stopper. Arch is pathetic in coverage. He's not a good safety.

Landry is a great player, but we need a cover safety. And his name is Griffin from Texas. He is a better cover guy and can hit you! Landry is 6-1 213 and Griffin is 6-0 208. We could get Griffen much later in the draft and be just as happy!
