cancel class after the first murder, not wait around like a dumb university. as far as im concerned the university bear some responsability. if they cancel class, many more people are probably still alive. From what I have heard from some initial reports is that the shootings were un-related, and the first guy is in custody.
There's a lot of mis-information out there... So it's really impossible to judge what when on right now.

Making people more accountable for who they allow into a restricted dormitory would a good start.
As tragic as this story is, you got to realize that the last time something like this happened on such a comparable scale was 40 years ago. That's a lot of students at a lot of colleges and universities that have lived in relative safety during their time in school.

Any idea when those classes started? If it was an early class like 8:00 then students are already in the classroom. Once the school is in lockdown don't you have to remain in the classroom until your building is cleared by security.

What the local news is reporting is that the shooter killed himself and that there was only one shooter. They also reported that students were jumping out of the windows to get away from the shooter. There is also currently 29 others who are in the various regional hospitals being treated for gunshot wounds and other wounds related to today's event. They have also said that it was actually 31 people, including the shooter who died today, and not 32. So, there is a total of nearly 60 people killed or wounded.

Just to echo earlier sentiments, this probably isn't the best time to really talk about governement, guns, mental health, etc. Just out of respect to the victims and families and students of VaTech.
My bad.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it. I don't see how talking about ways to prevent tragedies like these is at all disrespectful to the dead. If anything, it shows a great appreciation for human life in general; we're talking about the best way to prevent senseless deaths like these. I don't know a better way to honor their lives.

Well, it's not a matter of right or wrong. It's just a matter of being sensitive, that's all.
