Patrick Ramsey vs. Mark Brunell
It would be easy to assume the job is Brunell's since the Redskins paid him a huge contract after trading to get him from Jacksonville. Although he is expected to win the job, coach Joe Gibbs has publicly declared Ramsey will have every chance to take it from him in training camp. Ramsey was a first-round pick in 2002 who had some decent moments as a rookie. He has a big arm and will someday be a heck of a starting quarterback. In Gibbs' system, which is more quarterback friendly, he should play better. Brunell is thrilled with the chance to jump-start his career after sitting for most of 2003 behind rookie Byron Leftwich with the Jaguars. Brunell said he feels as good as he has, in terms of health, since coming into the league. He still has a good arm and is actually a better all-round quarterback than the kid who ran around back in the mid-1990s. He sees the field better than he did then.
Edge: Brunell, based on experience and Gibbs' hand-picking him to be his quarterback.
Opening-day starter: Brunell. He has three or four good years left and his play will surprise those who thought he was finished.

You have gotta give the nod to Brunell. The job is pretty much his to loose. You can kind of tell that by him playing in the QB challange. On the other hand Ramsey will not like the idea of riding the pine and it should make him work that much harder to get his job back. If Ramsey wins the starting job he will be hands down the better qb and will have earned it by his hard work and dedication. Lets just hope Ramsey doesnt get lazy and accept the role of back up qb and after Brunell leaves is not what he should of been.

I'm pulling for Ramsey with all my heart. He's my favorite player, and I really think he has a chance to get ahead of Brunell. I , however really do like Brunell and wont be that dissapointed if hes the opening day starter, I think hes gonna have a hard time making it through the season though.

I really want Ramsey to win the starting job. He's a very good, young quarterback. The best of the 2002 class. Ramsey is also a better QB right now. I think Brunell is running on E and he can't take the hits anymore. If Brunell wins it Ramsey may want out and that'd be the worst thing that has happened to the Skins in years.

If brunnel wins the job then obviously Gibbs thought he was gonna help the team out more than ramsey. if ramsey gets upset about a better qb playing instead of him and wants out, then I know I for one wouldn't want that type of guy being the leader of our offense.

Brunnel is sorry, Ramsey is the man.

Let me first say I am a big Ramsey fan. He was the QB I wanted the Skins to draft over all the available QB's that year. I think he will far exceed the accomplishments of that QB class. With that said I have lived in Jacksonville, Florida since 1995 an have had the opportunity to watch Mark Brunell and the Jaguars first hand. Not only is he not running on empty, but he is one of the best QB's to ever play the game. Watching him week in and week out lead the Jaguars down the field for TD's with pinpoint passing even when the team was not very good tells me he is going to be a great Redskin. He is a quality guy and a great QB. This is the kind of tough decision you hope to have between 2 quality QB's. One is great now and one will be soon.

Good to hear from you Dana. I really like Ramsey and think he's gonna have a great future. I'll admit, at first I was against the Brunell trade because wanted the job to be Ramsey's, no questions asked. But now I'm realizing this will at least help us avoid what happened to the Falcons and Jets last year.
That being said, even when I objected to the trade I never thought Brunell couldn't play. He was pushed out in Jacksonville because of his salary and because the Jags are going in another direction with Leftwich, but not because he can't play anymore. I think we have a win-win at QB

I want Brunell to start the season and Ramsey to finish. We have two quality QBs and budding Hasselbeck. This could be one of the better QB situations in 'Skins history.

yeah, you gotta remember, vick went down last year and cost the coach his job (canning him was the wrong decision, but i digress). Last year ramsey went down, and luckily tim is a lot better than people thought he'd be, but i'd rather have brunell on the field if i had the choice. A QB injury is one of the worst things that can happen to a team, gibbs just wants to make sure one bad play doesn't cost him the year.
