I live in Charlotte and let me tell you, people will be calling for Carr before preseason is over. People here are sick and tired of Delhomme and his ranting and raving during the games and his basically below average play. They we asking for Weinke all season, so you know Carr is going to get his run. I believe Carr, giving a better offensive line, and better run game, could be a productive QB. Carolina lost two of its starting lineman in the season opener. They should have everyone back and healthy and the Oline should be a lot better. If Carr doesn't start the season, he will be in by week 5 or 6.

Personally, I hope they keep Delhomme in because I freaking hate Carolina, all most as bad as the Cowboys. These fans down here are so fair weather is ridiculous. If they are winning, the bars are packed, but if they lose 2 or 3 games, the bars are empty. Plus, I see people driving to the stadium at 12:30 for a 1:00 game. Half the fans don't even show up until midway through the 2nd, or at halftime. I hope they go 0-16. They get on my damn nerves. At least I can say us Redskin fans are there game in and game out, no matter what the record. We proadly display our flags and car maginets.. they only show them if they are winning.

I went to High Point University.....LOL! You're right about Carolina fair weather fans. They have only had a team how long???

I hope they go 0-16 too!!!

I'm suprised he didn't go to compete for one of the starting jobs out there.. (Oakland, Miami, Detroit, KC, Cleveland) or somewhere like Chicago or Minnesota where he'd be behind a shaky starter.. Rumblings are that he's not that into football and was close to retiring rather than go somewhere else. If he doesn't like to compete he's just getting a check..

Good move for Carr. He NEEDS a fresh start.

Carr's never going to be great. He may not even ever be above league average. But he's probably better than Jake Delhomme.

I agree, I don't think he's gonna be a Pro Bowler, but he might have a better year than Delhomme's able to put together. I think he has the tools to be able to play a few games. I think they should look into another free agent/qb in the draft if Carr does play. He's certainly not the QB of the future, but I think he'll play next year.

Congratulations Carolina, you just doubled the number of average QBs on your roster.

Wasn't Gibbs contemplating coaching for the Panthers a few years back?

I think this is the last year for both Delhomme and Fox in Carolina

I think this is the last year for both Delhomme and Fox in CarolinaI think Fox gets another year when they win the division.

That's a really pathetic division when you think about it. Tampa Bay's once dominant D is yet another year older. The Falcons have no clue how to build a team around a guy who plays QB like a guy perpetually making his first NFL start. Every pick they use on a receiver who wont get the ball is another that they didn't use to rebuild the defense. The Saints can't possibly be a good as last year, and that leaves really the Panthers and Saints to fight it out of the division.

When Carr inevitably replaces Delhomme at QB, assuming they dont have a Redskin-esque defensive dropoff, they will win some games. It won't be a dominant offense, but should be a passible one.

Still, not really a threat of a team around playoff time. But 10-6 and a division championship is a pretty reasonable expectation, and one that IMO would save Fox's job.

I think the interesting question is what comes of Delhomme if Carr leads them to a playoff birth. Does he stay on as the backup, or try to make it (unsuccessfully) in 2008?
