If Chargers can get a 1st & 3rd for Turner, don't we have to shop Betts?

The above link says backup RB Michael Turner is visiting Buffalo and Tenn. I later heard Clayton on ESPN radio state that it was a very real possibility that Turner would sign with Buffalo, and they would then give up a 1st and 3rd rounder. If that's the case, shouldn't the Skins FO be shopping Betts? He's not an every down back for the season (injuries) and he does seem to fumble at times. With his contract, I would think the Skins could get a 1st and a 3rd for him too.

Anybody who signs him has to give SD compensation because he is a restrcited FA. SD signed him to the highest possible tender.

Just my opinion but can we please stop with all the trade Betts/Portis talk. Its getting old and its not gonna happen anyway.

A little late now don't you think? He's already a big part of our plans for next year and Gibbs seems pretty set on reducing the workload for Portis.

There's a chance that Portis will be unable to regain his 2005 form due to the amount of carries he got that season. I have to say though, his per play numbers as a less than healthy running back were very promising. It's not unprescidented for a player to get as many carries as Portis got in 2005 to never regain a dominant form, after all, not everybody can be Eric Dickerson or Jerome Bettis.

Having Betts will ensure that if Portis ends up not being as good as he has been that we can switch RBs without having to do something stupid like trading a 3rd round pick for a RB. At the very least, lightening Portis' load will prevent him from having another season where he takes a beating similar to the one he took in 2005, and should prolong his career.

People, People.... can we please remember that Betts started only 8 games last year and rushed for 1154 yards....He is also a North, South runner.... why would we want to get rid of him?????:soapbox:

Doesn't mean we should get rid of him, but it's not time for any LJ comparisions just yet.

I just can't understand how these trade Betts rumors continue to surface. There has been no talk out of Redskin park that the team has any intention of trading Betts. It's just not going to happen, so it seems useless to continue rehashing it.

Well... don't give me to much credit... with my knees I am lucky to walk 900 yards with my dog.

I just think if you can get a 1st rounder for Betts, with all the holes this team has, why not do it? Betts is ok, he's not great.
