2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 71 | Key
Alert: None

Comment:
Macklin is extremely competitive and consistent. He works hard and plays taller than his listed size. He is tough, aggressive and can high-point the ball. He has very quick feet and plays under control. He has good short-area skills and is very effective in cover 2. He shows excellent cover instincts, understands route concepts and makes good decisions from off coverage. He can squat and close quickly against three-step drops. He is very effective in run support. He will attack downhill and is a solid hitter and wrap-up tackler. But Macklin lacks quality size and athleticism for the position. He isn't very effective in press coverage. He lacks top-end speed and struggles to recover if his jam isn't perfect. He has some trouble downfield against bigger receivers and on jump balls. He is much more effective in the slot than out on an island.

good pickup. we'd be foolish not to restructure Springs to keep depth or move him to FS

Not so sure SS is willing to restructure.

Not so sure SS is willing to restructure.

Players are always willing to "restructure" as that always favors the player. Shawn Springs was unwilling to take a paycut, for obvious reasons.

WRONG! Players are not ALWAYS willing to restructure. That makes NO SENSE.

A simple restructure means the player gets their money up front rather than later on. Why would a player not be willing to do this in your opinion?

In this case there has been to much talk about SS not even being here next year to begin with. No one shoe fits all, not ALWAYS is a player willing to restructure.
What would be the be motivation for him to restructure to help the team?

That would depend on the terms of the restructure.......correct?

That would depend on the terms of the restructure.......correct?Generally, restructure means more money up front. Thers's other ways to restructure, usually involving an extention of some sort, but when the term restructure is thrown out with no qualifier, it's almost certainly referring to a base salary being converted into a signing bonus.
