Dan Wilkinson never came close to living up to his hype - - he was the overall #1 pick of the draft and some said he would redefine how you were supposed to play DT.

Now he's old. And I suspect that at least some of this "no show" business is related to the fact that he doesn't want to have to be in an off-season conditioning program for a new team and wouldn't mind missing at least some of the early "two-a-days" in training camp. So, he's probably looking around to see who might need a DT come August 1.

But let's not be too venomous about Big Daddy -- or Big Fatty as he has been called more than a few times. He is still as good if not better than the menagerie that played DT for the Skins last season. Yes, the Skins' guys are young and MIGHT get better while Big Daddy is only going to go downhill. But let's not pile on him by thinking that the Skins DL has any actual - you now - studs on it.

Big Daddy didn't live up to the hype, but he's not Gerard Warren or Courtney Brown-type bad.

Still, the time is about right for him to hang it up and call it a career.

Big Daddy just needs a change of scenery, he can still be a monster. I say sign him up to a vet. min deal with incentives.

Matty:

If Big Daddy comes here for a vet minimum deal and if you actually have any belief that pay should be related to performance in some way, how are you going to pay those other hulks masquarading as DTs out there at Redskins' Park any less?

His best days weren't all that great to begin with. His best days are in the rear-view mirror. Still, he's as good if not better than what was out there on the field wearing burgandy and gold at DT last season...

Wilkinson wasn't that bad guys. It was Stubblefield that really stunk of the two. At least Big Daddy did make some plays for us.

I agree. While neither was fine dining at an upscale restaurant, Wilkinson was like Taco Bell, while Stubblefield was 4-week old gas station/convenience store bologna sandwich sitting at room temperature.

Stub was one of my favorite people when he was here, but man was he a disaster on the field.

Stubby was a "system" player with SF. When he went back he seemed to magically get better again.
