Here is the other thing. Why would we trade up in the draft if the so called value in the draft is later on?Excellent point.

It shouldn't have needed to be made though. Specualtion that we'd trade up based on the actions we have actually taken this offseason to trade down is pretty rediculous.

They say that all the picks in the first three rounds provide similar returns upon the value of the pick. That is to say that the team picking 32 is no worse off from a monetary standpoint as the team picking 1.

So if we can trade down and get more picks, great. Getting our guy is the most important thing though.

That is the age old question though. Who is our GUY?

I hope. You're never going to get another chance to draft a 19 year old DT with 4 years of starting experience. He could be in the prime of his career before age saps him for like 7 years.

And I believe it will be one hell of a prime.

I'd rather keep Betts and trade down from #6, get a third round pick and still be high enough to get one of the top DLinemen. I guess that trade would make sense (maybe more for Cleveland than the Skins) but it would at least make sense. Only as a draft day deal, though, because you'd have to make sure Johnson was still on the board. Sorry for blasting you on the other thread about the Cleveland and 3rd comment before knowing what you were talking about.

Agreed

Nothing but the truth! We saw him play VaTech, and he made some good players look small and slow. He will be a player for a long time. Some say he is the "best ever". If he had a decsent QB in college, he would have broke any and all records. As far as Betts, hes great and we need him. I also see that we have the UVA FB/HB on the draft board. Hes a Gibbs player and a good pick. Branch is the only considered DL that is worth a top 10 pick. If he is questionable then go with the obvious decision and pick the best underated player in Calvin Johnson.
