I'm still amazed that teams get 3rd rounders as compensatory picks.

I'm also perplexed by the compensatory scheme. Compensatory picks are handed out to compensate teams that have lost players to free agency, on the theory that their level of competitiveness has been harmed by FA. Perhaps the Colts, Ravens, and Pats have been hurt by FA departures, but when teams are winning the Super Bowl or winning 12+ games in a season, it's kind of silly to award them compensatory picks.

There's a reason those teams are winning championships, losing free agents, getting picks and not missing a beat. They have a plan and stick to it.

But I was listening to Sportstalk 980 the other day and I heard a replay of Vinny Cerrato saying "don't worry we have a plan and were going to be ok" - this was when Czaban and the crew were talking about the proposed Briggs trade. The Redskins do have a plan - right?

Yep, the plan is what puts them in position to take advantage of the timely good fortune.
