Well as I've said here (http://www.thewarpath.net/291585-post62.html) and here (http://www.thewarpath.net/291563-post50.html) and probably other places my concern with the deal is a.) shouldn't we get more picks and b.) why did we trade up to get Rocky and then sign Fletch only to add another linebacker. Granted, we're talking Lance Briggs here but still

I don't have a problem with people opposing the trade. Like I said, I still lean against it. All I'm saying is, to Matty's question, I think a lot of people's reason for opposing the trade isn't "well what about Rocky" or "can we afford to pay Briggs, what does this mean for Coooley" or "is Briggs a system back" or anything like that, it's just "well, it's the Redskins so it must be a bad move."Alright, I see what you're getting at. However, I after reading through the majority of the posts I think most people are pissed because of the reasons that you stated (Rocky, trading the 6th for more picks, money for the future, etc) and that this isn't one of those situations where people are bashing for the sake of bashing.

This reminds me of Jeremiah Trotter back in the day.

I believe that as of this moment, Alan Branch is a more valuable player than Lance Briggs. However, we are willing to trade away alan branch and pay twice as much just cause Dan Snyder is bored. And don't give me this "Dan is successful all everything" crap. Six flags is falling off the map.

This is typical BS, not happy at all about this offer as I'm sure you can tell. All the other moves have been good this offseason, but this one takes the cake (if it is true)

I don't think so. I've seen tons of posts in this thread and in the 200+ post one stating why this is a bad deal. There's tons of real reasons and tons of substantiation behind all of them.

In this case, this is no knee-jerk reaction. People are mainly bothered by the fact that we have glaring needs at D line, and this trade severely compromises our ability to satisfy that need.

Who said you could talk? Didn't The Ego ban you for 10 weeks? :) Seriously though, perhaps I should have replaced "a lot of people" with "there are people who"

Bottom line, if the trade goes down as speculated (#6 for Briggs and #31)what's the next step for you as a fan, and the Redskins as a team

I was explaining this deal to a coworker this morning and as I was telling him some of the details (he's not a Skins fan, that idiot) I realized that the linebacking corps is arguably the strongest part of our defense right now. Last year we all would have been mad if we had gone out and traded a bunch of draft picks to get Will Shields with our Oline being as strong as it was; I see this as the defensive equivalent.

To hope to be pleasantly surprised with the Defense after week 4.

I'll probably be grumpy until training camp hits, and then I'll catch the fever, and I'll root for Briggs and Marcus to sandwich Eli and make him cry.

Whatever the 'Skins do I'm along for the ride. And if they acquire Briggs, despite all my complaining, I'd never be so happy to see myself wrong on something.

See, the offseason brain is logical, and thinks through the salary cap, and roots for solid scouting of college players to acquire cheap talent to build the team for the long term. The in-season brain is illogical, emotional, and just wants to see the team smash face. The two brains don't communicate well with one another. The offseason brain can be ready to jump off a bridge, but the in-season brain is always going to eat, sleep, and breathe the burgundy and gold.

It's not unlike man's two "heads." Sometimes the brain tells you no no no, this makes no sense. But the "other" head always says "shut the eff up, Spock, we're going in."

There sure were a lot of "D" words in that kid's post. Must be the letter of the day of Sesame Street.
