Why do we assume he is a backup?

Also JLC says it is not a done deal yet. I trust JLC over schefter.

This would make me really happy. 3 mil a year for your top backup OL (or perhaps starting guard) is entirely reasonable. People on this site seem to be OBSESSED with signing everyone for "vet minimum"...and if we dont do that its a horrible signing. Fellas (and hess :-P), no starter or top backup plays for vet minimum...and if they do youre getting exactly that, a vet with minimum talent.

As for Jamarcus Russell, I cant imagine this is even worth following...but hey, Ive been wrong before.

we assume he is a backup because 6'8" is a little tall for a guard. hard to get low when you are that tall, leverage would be a big problem id imagine.

There is only a 2 inch difference between Wade and Dockery, plus Wade is about 20lbs lighter that Dockery which might make gettin low for leverage a bit easier for Wade...

2 inches can make a lot of difference. if we do use him at guard i hope he will be a success, im just not sold on it by any means

You might be right, after looking it looks like most guards are about 6'2" to 6'6" in that range. Either way I think that having Wade on the team for OL depth is good. And besides that Jansen isn't getting any younger. I am not insinuating that Wade start over Jansen, but I am saying that haveing Wade on the bench waiting to be used incase of an injury seems to me to be a good thing...

hopefully it will be ed muiltalio I would feel a lot better if it was ed M! Then he and Wade could fight for the guard spot in camp!

Here is my take on Wade vs Dockery. I don't believe we will see any let down if he [Wade] is the starting guard! I think his pass blocking will be the same as Dock but Wade will be a better pull blocker the Dockery! Dock might be a little better in power blocking but that might be the same as well!
