EternalEnigma21 03-07-2007, 11:11 AM yeah, fletcher's stats are astonishing... and not only can he shed blocks and make tackles (he avgs like 140+ over the last 5 years... amazing) but he plays the pass great too...
I think he's more of what we need than al wilson, and he's probably cheaper if wilson would want a new deal... not to mention the picks... we need a solid corner and bly would fit our needs better...
EternalEnigma21 03-07-2007, 11:12 AM It's funny you are ready to throw Rogers over the side. Are you one of those that think that Dockery leaving is the end of the world as well. Well let me tell you just a season a go Dockery was ready to be throw under the bus for so so play. One year later we get a big pay day and is the one of the best guardm in the league. Who kowns Rogers a year or so may be the best as well!
Yeah, pete, but if he waits until his contract year to decide to play then F 'em, which is how I felt about dock all of last year...
BrudLee 03-07-2007, 11:20 AM I'll tell you who we should get at MLB - Jeremiah Trotter. Who cares if he doesn't play the exact style of defense we do - he's awesome, and will adapt his game. [/2003]
Style of play and familiarity with the system are huge. I'm not familiar enough with Wilson's game to say he doesn't fit, but Fletcher does. Besides, looking at the stats (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4680), Wilson's play dropped off after week ten last year. I don't know the reason, but the Broncos were in contention, and they fell out. Wilson didn't come up big when needed.
RedskinPete 03-07-2007, 11:35 AM Yeah, pete, but if he waits until his contract year to decide to play then F 'em, which is how I felt about dock all of last year... Sometime it takes a little longer for player to get to where they need to be. Rogers was drafted in 05 so this should be a break out season. He played hurt most of last season and that didn't help. I can remember when Samuels looked so so! But he came around. Let's face it the D was bad all year long and Rogers wasn't the only guy not doing his job.
Daseal 03-07-2007, 11:39 AM Yeah, Rogers did have a broken hand all year.

The neck inj probably had something to do with that

Definitely. I haven't looked at historical stats, but my gut feeling is that CBs need a couple years to adjust to the NFL. There aren't many that come out and dominate from the very beginning. If Rogers has the talent he was drafted for, then he is due for a breakout season.
EXoffender 03-07-2007, 12:21 PM Yeah, Rogers did have a broken hand all year. Then he's crying the blues when Rodgers leaves via FA...

Sanders, Bailey, Hall, and others have done quite well in their rookie seasons. Granted, those guys are among the best corners in the league, but the 9th overall pick should produce an immediate impact. I haven't give up on Rogers by any means, but I'm losing faith fast.

Well, on the upside, at least he doesn't go shoot people at strip clubs a la another illustrious cornerback taken in the Top 10 that year. Actually, none of those guys (Pac Man, Antrel Rolle, or Rogers) has done a whole lot to distinguish themselves. I guess Pac Man is the best, but his off-field stuff really hurts him. Wouldn't it be nice to have Shawn Merriman (12th pick that year I think) instead of Carlos? I guess you could say he is better suited for the 3-4, but I wouldn't mind to see him coming off the edge in a Skins uni.
