Below are some interesting tidbits about a possible trade between Denver and Washington.

More Dre Bly
As I've been writing since Sunday, don't rule out a Dre Bly trade. I continue to hear this cat is pushing to get to DC bigtime, and it seems like the trade talks are still on. The stuff I hear just won't go away and I am beginning to think it is going to happen.

Denver does not want to give Bly an extension, but the Redskins will. I heard today that these trade talks actually stretch back to before the combine and have taken on various forms (including the Springs for Bly proposed swap that the Broncos killed because the Skins wanted cap relief, as reported first on this lil blog Sunday).

So now the Broncos are bringing in corner David Macklin and are open to dealing Bly. And the Broncos have a hardcore interest in Washington's sixth overall pick, numerous league sources have told me, and the Redskins remain very open to dealing it. As I've reported previously, the Redskins are also deadset on trying to get that third-round pick back from Denver they lost in the Duckett deal.

And, trust me, these teams have been talking about swapping draft picks for weeks, I hear on very good authority, and have already had the parameters of several potential deals in place. So, I still think there is a very good chance we see Bly come to DC, along with Denver's first-round pick, and second- and/or third-round pick, plus maybe a conditional late round pick, in exchange for the 6th overall pick.

In that scenario, the Skins would make a big play for the 19-year-old defensive lineman from Louisville, Okoye, to address that need, and get young offensive and defensive linemen with the additional picks (I hear they love this kid by the way). Also, Springs would likely get traded for picks (don't rule out him landing in Detroit, Arizona or even Baltimore) and Bly gets his money in Washington.

And trust me, I am not going to put everything I know out there right now, but the Skins could make this happen cap-wise, with little problem.

if it's our #1 for their #1+#2/3+bly, then i say thats a good deal for the skins.

This trade, or a form of it, would be cause for all of us to heap tons and tons of praise upon the front office. I really hope it happens. A move like this would show me this team is beginning to wise up when it comes to the right way to build a team.

I hope I hope I hope!

This is going to be interesting to see how this unfolds???
Sure sounds like some sort of a trade is eminent between the SKINS and denver???
Maybe SS will be gettin outta here.....up until very recently I had no idea they were so far apart? I still like a HEALTHY SS OVER BLY....if there is such a thing?
Sure would be nice to get that third round pick back, from those tards!
On that waste DEAD BEAT DUCKETT.

i like that part of the post. i'm guessing he's referring to all the cut the skins could still make (hall,wynn,daniels...etc.)

You think Okoye will still be there at 21?

Ugh. I dont know if I trust our front office not to mess this up. I would say our #6 is worth Denver's 1, 2, and our 3. Or 1 , 2 and Bly. Seriously dont think we can get anything higher than a 3 for Springs. We need to stop making deals with Denver. I still think our best play will be with Minnesota, Houston or Miami on the potential Quinn falling situation.

That's the thing. When a sportswriter writes a column like this I wonder what kind of time does this guy actuallly put into his job. We can't make a play on Okoye if we make this deal because he will be long long long gone and any kind of football writer would know this and that leads me to believe this writer is garbage. Oh wait. What paper does he write for again? JLC has so little access to the team it's no wonder he has lost interest in actually following the NFL.

no chance.

however...
we trade #6 for bly + #21 + #42, then we can trade springs for the lions 2nd rounder and try to package a 1/2 to move up for okoye, while still having (hopefully) an early 2nd rounder for an OG or a DE, depending on if we find a cheap place holder at OG in free agency or not. we could also use the 2nd that's left on a DE and use all the late picks on interior linemen, hoping one works out.

JLC has very good access actually. And, as That Guy pointed out to me (and all of us here) JLC didn't say they'd use the #21 pick to select Okoye but that they would make a big play to get him (as in trade up to get him), but still have extra picks
