3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, OkoyeMTK 03-07-2007, 11:35 AM Why did DEN trade for Bly if they didn't want to give him an extension? Trade bait for the Skins probably Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-07-2007, 11:35 AM Why did DEN trade for Bly if they didn't want to give him an extension? They didn't give much in return, as both Foster and Bell were big disappointments in Denver and there was talk of them getting cut. I think they figured that trading such disappointments would be worth nabbing a starting corner who could play very well opposite Champ Bailey. Bly would have been a great corner for Denver as teams couldn't attack either corner without risking turnovers (as both are not only great CBs, but also ballhawking CBs). SC Skins Fan 03-07-2007, 11:48 AM JLC has great insight and I appreciate him being on here. I like the deal but I am a little confused. Are we trading Denver Shawn and our 1st for bly, their 1st, 2nd, and our 3rd back. Sounds great to me. Or is more like our 1st for bly, 1st, and our 3rd. And then send springs to another team for like a 3rd. I'm telling you, as far as value is concerned, the Redskins should get Bly and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the 6th overall pick without giving up anything else. The Redskins tend to undervalue their draft picks and give them up without receiving proper compensation, but check this out: Here are some numbers from the Draft Value Chart that every NFL team uses. - The Redskins 1st Rd pick (#6 overall) is worth 1600 pts - The Broncos 1st Rd Pick (#21 overall) is worth 800 pts - The Broncos 2nd Rd Pick (#56 overall) is worth 340 pts - The Broncos 3rd Rd Pick (Traded from Washington) (#70 overall) is worth 240 pts The total of the first three Bronco picks is 1380, which leaves 220 points (the value of the 74th - i.e. high 3rd round pick) left to make up. I think you could definitely say Dre Bly is worth a third round pick (but no more than a third round pick) so that would be a very fair trade to all parties involved. If the Broncos covet the 6th overall pick than I think the Skins should make the deal, but the should take NO LESS than the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Bly in the deal. holcknowsbest 03-07-2007, 12:42 PM no way springs for a third, get bly and run with bly and springs then trade rodgers for a 4th or 5th. why get rid of spings???? rodgers stinks! theJBexperience 03-07-2007, 12:44 PM You think Okoye will still be there at 21? No way he'll still be there at 21. Gmanc711 03-07-2007, 12:46 PM no way springs for a third, get bly and run with bly and springs then trade rodgers for a 4th or 5th. why get rid of spings???? rodgers stinks! Trading Carlos Rogers after two years, neither of which were really that bad ( I mean he didnt play great, but I think ppl just wanna use him as a scapegoat this year) would be really stupid, especially when Springs will probaboly only play one more season with the Skins max anyways.... I'm super, super cerial. dall-assblows 03-07-2007, 01:04 PM no way springs for a third, get bly and run with bly and springs then trade rodgers for a 4th or 5th. why get rid of spings???? rodgers stinks! rodgers has little exp. last year was his 2nd year not his 7th. he has the advantage of being young. he has upside. lets not trade him just yet. dall-assblows 03-07-2007, 01:06 PM I'm super, super cerial. man-bear-pig is around here somewhere......
