wilsowilso 03-06-2007, 05:11 PM The whole point of us trading with Denver would be to get Dre Bly.
The 6th for Dre Bly, the 21st, and our 3rd rounder back (which we sent to Denver in the Duckett deal) would be very fair and make sooo much sense.
We could even then turn around and send Springs to the Lions. Or send him to the Broncos and have them throw in a 2nd rounder.
I don't care if we miss out on a tip top talent at 6. I'm not going to kid myself and pretend that we don't have depth problems at TE, OL, S, and D Line. We need multiple players, not one stud.
If we are forced to pick at 6, then Alan Branch is my guy. But I'd much, MUCH prefer this deal with Denver, which seems like a very plausible deal according to LaCanfora:

Oh that makes more sense. Not sure if I like it, but as long as we can get something like a second for Springs it could work. This whole Springs thing is getting kind of ugly.

Even a 3rd for him would be fine by me. Springs is getting older. A 3rd rounder would net us a pretty good LG who'd be cheap and, of course, very young.
TheMalcolmConnection 03-06-2007, 05:15 PM With the way that OG depth is this year, some of the more elite prospects could be had in the third.
Eight in the Box 03-06-2007, 05:22 PM I DON'T want a pass rushing specialist end. I'd like one more season of data on Carter BEFORE we make a move to replace him. I don't want Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson. Give me Okoye, Branch, or Carriker.
I don't think we are looking to replace Andre Carter. Teh new guy would play opposite of him and replace Philip Daniels. Carter improved dramatically during the second half of the season banking 4 of his 6 sacks in the final 5 games and also posting his 3 highest tackle total on the season during that span. I think Carter will be fine.
I agree about getting Okoye or Branch instead of Adams or Anderson. Two undersized, pass-rushing DE's will be inneffective if we do not have some meat in the middle to eat up the blockers
holmester 03-06-2007, 05:23 PM Don't forget about Bett's either. I want him to stay around 1 more year as security and to possibly build his stock but I still would'nt be too surprised if he was traded if a good deal was offered.
diehardskin2982 03-06-2007, 05:47 PM I like the idea of Spring and smoot back together with a guy like Alan Branch holding the line down. but if something where to happen as far as for draft picks this would be suitable
That Guy 03-06-2007, 08:29 PM good OGs are easy enough to find in the 2nd or 3rd. springs for bly + picks could really help us out. I haven't seen film on anderson, but looks like a decent gamble. I like okoye's upside and carriker more though, even though they'll be picked later on in the draft.
we need at least one starting DL and one starting OL this draft to really have a good offseason. after that, picking up another TE or a safety, or depth would be nice, but those aren't the big issues right now... we could use a 2nd DL more than any of those needs due to the age we've got there (1 DE 1 DT). in the 2nd or 3rd a starting DT is going to be REALLY tough to get this year, though some of the DEs there will still have good starting potential.
RMSkins 03-06-2007, 08:51 PM We definitely need to keep our 6th pick.

makes sense shawn springs and the 6th overall pick for dre bly, and the broncos first 2 picks that way we can ger bly and pick up an extra pick to get depth and at 21 we can draft quentin moses, charles johnson, or jarvis moss
joethiesmanfan 03-06-2007, 09:16 PM Whatt about Betts and Springs for Champ Bailey. (just kidding)
