I like Nate Clements, but he's not the best defensive player in the league even though he's getting paid like he is.

I bet Frank Gore would be better at corner. Since he is better than Emmit and Tomlinson, he has nothing to prove as a runningback.

And BTW, is changing the first letter of my screen name from an 'R' to an 'L' when addresssing me supposed to be a clever insult? Am I missing something or are you just that lame?

Just explain to me how Clements is only going to earn roughly 1/4th of his 81 million dollar contract when he will recieve 22 million without stepping on the field.

I have my laughtrack ready.

Maybe because he will do a better job at covering them then nearly anyone else in the NFL would? It's called an upgrade. Are you saying that because some WR's are nearly uncoverable there is no point in signing good corners???
Then why the hell did you say he isn't worth 80 million? You acted like we just handed him the check.
... okay?

Champ could cover them. But since he didn't sign with the 9ers, I guess he isn't in the same league as Clements.

If no one can cover them, I would say the money would be better spent on someone like Thomas or a defensive lineman. If you can't cover the receiver you should pressure the QB.

quote=Rexi;283186]Bizarro world math? Do you disagree that 22 is roughly 1/4 of 80? If that's bizarro world math to you then estimation must be tough.

What about the base salaries, Stephen Hawking? Did you forget about those? When you learn simple arithmetic we can talk contracts.[/quote]Do you think 80 million is his base salary or something?

Rexi. He gets paid a salary also. The SB is up front money. As in: "here's a check for 22 mil, sign the contract and it is yours." Most of the rest of the contract is salary which he earns when actually playing. By the end of the first season he will have made more than 1/4 of the money.

Thank you for the explaination. I forgot the golden rule, "Redskins fans are smarter than your team's fans".

If you really want to laugh, read Rexi's old posts where he argued that Frank Gore was better than Emmit and in the same class as Tomlinson.

I don't make this stuff up. I just leave it up to 49ers fans...
