I heard that he might be cut a few weeks ago, but I'm still surprised given that they have a run-first offense, they lost Chester Taylor and Jamal Lewis, and McNair's age is starting to show.

I wonder who they are looking to grab. The best backs in the draft are expected to be gone by the time the Ravens pick and there are no franchise RBs in FA.

Clayton said he still could become a Raven. They just didn't want to give him 5 million for this year.Clayton said they could pick him back up for about 3 million less then what they would have had to pay him.So don't be surprised if the Ravens sign him again.

The aged JL isn't worth the cash. I think that was a good business move. I could really care less, glad he's not on the SKINS ROSTER.

Would he be willing to take an '05-'06 Jerome Bettis-type roll for some other team or does he feel like he still has good years left? I can't imagine he would re-sign with b'more if he feels like he can still be an elite back.

(I don't want him anywhere near Ashburn)

I think that prison time hurt him a lot. He hasn't been the same back since.

He really isn't that old (28). But he has been pretty beaten up and had some injuries. He may still go back to the Ravens. It was just prohibitive cap-wise for them to keep him. I think his days as an elite back are gone - but he could be a 1-yard wonder on the goal line for some team.
