1. Defensive Line
2. Cornerback
3. Middle Linebacker

We Can Solve All Of This During This Off-season By Drafting Alan Branch At Number 6, Signing Nate Clements, And Picking Up London Fletcher

1. Change its whole style of building it's team up.
2. Bring back Dock
3. Fire the extra CB or Secondary coach...

I am going to assume that Shawn Springs will stay here with a restructured contract and will be healthy. Note those two assumptions.

On that basis, cornerback is less of a "pressing need" than getting a safety who can cover pass plays.

The DL needs help; I agree with that. But drafting a guy whose press clippings aren't nearly as wildly enthusiastic as the ones were for Big Daddy Wilkinson may not do the job. Remember, Wilkinson was the overall #1 pick ans was going to redefine the position of DT. Alan Branch looks pretty good against other college kids. He MIGHT be a great defensive lineman. Or he might be Big Daddy Dan Wilkinson.

Oh, and even if they get Branch, the DL needs two new starters and a young stud to come along and learn to play at the NFL level in a couple of years. That DL is not one player away from glory.

A real MLB would help a whole lot.

I'm surprised that you don't think that the WRs need help. Santana Moss was great 2 seasons ago and above average last year - - nothing more than that. Lloyd stinks; Randle-El is a third down receiver/punt returner and that's about it; Patten has been "The Invisible Man" ever since the big coming out party that Danny Boy threw for him when he signed. James Thrash is a solid player who will give you 100% on every play, but he's limited too.

I wouldn't waste a high pick on a WR, but I'd sure try to find somebody to play that position somewhere in the draft or as an udrafted free agent.

MLB, DE and a nickel back that can man cover when Rogers or Springs are sidelined.
Lemar Marshall is a great overachiever but I think that last season really showed his physical limits. The lack of pass rush really hurt the secondary (could AA cover if QB's didn't have 20 minutes to hang out in the pocket every play?) and the line didn't do much stopping the run either so it is absolutely the weakest part of the team (possibly the worst in the league although Griffin is still awesome).

You know, I've thought the same thing. In any other season, when the nearly every position on defense wouldn't need such intense scrutiny, looking for a wide receiver might make the top 3 or 4 in terms of team needs. All these failed experiments at wideout will force the team to address a top WR probably in the next draft.

I'm still holding some shred of hope for Brandon Lloyd. Randle El is the more promising of the two. Ineptitude and inexperience at quarterback in '06 (I'll let you guess which description matches the two passers) is the only reason I think this group of receivers deserves one more shot. If they haven't made any sort of impact by the end of '07, then it will time to scrap the whole thing and go into '08 with Moss and Somebody Else.

Defense, defense, defense!

The WRs are disappointing but I think we're stuck with what we have. Maybe bring in a new WR coach, lets coach these guys up!! Teach Brandon Lloyd a 3rd route, that might help.
