I don't care who we get really as long as he is willing to be a vocal leader on the field and capable of directing the other guys on defense. You know...Pierce-like. If Harris isn't this type of guy then he can go waste someone else's money.

well put, way to represent Roanoke!
GW's system seems to need the mlb to be in command of the playbook & able to voice it. I don't think that's Marshall's style as much.

Is'nt he the guy that was on the other side of the Randy Moss trade...Moss later dissed him by saying that he was "traded for someone that he had never heard of".

yes he is a middle linebacker, but IMO hes above average at best, not great or elite. a solid player but nothing more

Hey at least he's a solid starter that is familiar with the position...that is still better than the converts we tried to throw in there this year. i say if we can get him for a little over a million a year, lets go for it.

i seriously doubt he'll go that cheap. If so, it'd be stupid not to bring him in.

If I was going after a free agent, I'd make a serious run at Vonnie Holliday, thus giving us the luxury of not HAVING to draft Branch.

It would make trading down more palatable and allow us to pick up two defensive prospects on the first day.

But Miami won't give him up without a fight.

As long as he's smart. MLB needs to be smart.

I think you meant "Supersmart." ;)

Can you clarify this? Am I reading you right that if we pick up someone like Vonnie Holliday at linebacker that enables us to draft something other than a defensive lineman?

If so, I could not disagree with you more. I've said this in another post, but it won't matter who you put in at linebacker when your defensive line gets trampled. We must have an upgrade along the line, specifically at D-tackle. We got ZERO penetration from Griffin and Salave'a last season.

A 'supersmart' sure-tackling middle linebacker does you no good when he's forced to make that tackle 4+ yards after the line of scrimmage. It starts up front -- and if the Redskins don't get help up front, the defense will be right where they were last year, if not worse.

Since when does Vonnie Holliday play LB?

Regardless the guy is on the wrong side of 30 and has 12 sacks the last 3 years.

Pass.

My fault. I was thinking he played linebacker.

But wait -- Matty, what about all those people who say sacks don't really matter?
