I think he did ok.

When he arrived, the team was at the very beginning of the rebuilding stages.
Then he had to deal with a bunch of bad draft picks, Desmond Howard, Shular, and Westbrook. If they had lived up to the hype...

The team had to rebuild the whole offensive line, The WR Corp and find a QB.
I truly believe that if Dan Turk makes a clean snap in the Buccs playoff game, We win the superbowl that year( 99). We would've played the Rams in the championship game, Green, Bailey and Dishman would've shut down Holt and Bruce. So So Close.

and his stint with the raiders, Well everyone is going to fail with Al Davis in charge.

Agree, but i just remember thinking that we'll never in a million years hit that FG. I can't remember who was our kicker, but i wasn't too confident.

same here...I remember I couldn't even watch. It was Bret Conway I believe. He was practically standing on the logo when he was setting up. Even still, I thought we had set ourselves up pretty well for years to come. I don't blame Norv for what happened next year...that was all Snyder.

Good to hear from you 5Rings (our resident classy Cowboys fan).

Unfortunately, I cannot utter "that coach's" name after the pain he put me through. I think that he is one of those guys that may be a good coordinator, but not the best HC. BTW, I don't count his track record in Oakland as he had nothing to work with beside as a--hole for an owner.

Norv had a lot of say in a couple of those picks, namely Shuler & Westbrook. I think he screwed up both.
I remember hoping we draft Sapp & we took Westbrook. Norv decided to go w/Frerotte instead of Shuler & I know that Gus is still playing, but Shuler was playing just as well at the time. I thought Norv gave up on him too soon.
Norv has probably not recieved enough grief for being partially responsible for Art Monk's departure. Monk was ready to sign the Skin's offer, but Norv said his roster spot was already gone.
In all fairness, he put together some decent offenses here & it wasn't all his fault that some of those teams sucked. But if it weren't for the timing of JKC's death, Norv would've been fired after the awful 98 season.

I have to piggy back with TMC.
I like Norv, but he appeared to have chronic discipline problems, and the team was to often sloppy. The rumor around Redskin park was lack of discipline as well, control problems. TO and his kind will give him a bad time. I don't envy him. I wish him luck (but not as much as the SKINS)

Welcome back 5RINGS

There were alot of "experts" who thought alot of Shuler coming out of college. It was Shuler and Dilfer.

I was sad to see Monk in a Jets uni, but it was probably time for him to hang it up. Its rare to see a player play for one team his entire career (Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, etc.).

I just remember the Redskins' offense being very predictable and vanilla during the Norval years. I know he's known as a great offensive mind, but hell I would be considered a genious too if I had Aikman, Smith and Irvin.
