I will take this for what it is. A grain of salt. If this is true I will only say this. NO MORE FREE AGENTS. Bringing in players from another system is just not the way to go and every Redskin fan should know this. Does anyone remember Dana Stubblefield? Or how about Dan Wilkinson?I agree. The defensive lines biggest problem is age. We have few draft picks, and at least two need to go to this unit.

I like Kris Jenkins, but he and Griffin are very similar players. We'd be better off with Alan Branch. Gotta inject youth if we are going to survive the next few years.

Exactly. We need a serious youth movement on defense and it might take some time. We need to build just like Tennessee is doing it.

Jimmy Johnson was on Brian M. show today and he said the Redskins are always looking for the quick fix. Well bringing in more FA's is just a quick fix. Let's draft this year and next year and try and stockpile.

before this year no team could run on us this year teams gashed us for long yards.... up the middle enough said!

One of the problems is Joe S. keeps getting hurt. We got enough mileage out of him and if a smart GM was here, he would have realized that we needed a young player waiting in the wings. Perhaps Goldston is the player but who knows. He played ok. But the main reason we kept getting gashed on the run was Carter, Marshall and Holdman. Carter and Marshall should not be in on run downs and Holdman just needs to be cut, or be in a back-up role.

I agree. We need a behemoth run stuffer. That will improve our LBs in run defense, and our DEs in pass rushing. Doesn't Branch fit that mold?

When Kris Jenkins is healthy, he's one of the top 5 DTs in the NFL. He is so significantly better than any of the DTs on the current roster that it's not funny. In fact, I think he may be better than any DT the Skins have had for this entire milennium. Maybe the last DT the Skins had who was equal to Jenkins was Dave Butz?

The problem is that he has spent a lot of time on the sidelines with injuries. So, if the Skins were to sign him - and he will cost way more than a league minimum with incentives to get him signed - the whole thing could go south with another injury. Or, the Skins interior defensive line could get significantly better overnight if he stays in the lineup...

Alan Branch might become a premier DT in the NFL. Or he could become "Dan Wilkinson" who was also projected to be a monster on the DL for whomever was lucky enough to get him. That never quite materialized, did it?

Someone said the defensive line's major problem was age. I don't agree. I admit the defensive line is old, but more importantly, the defensive line is lacking in physical talent. That's harsh, I know. But what team in the league would trade their four defensive line starters for Carter, Griffen, Daniels and Salavea even up? Surely none of the teams in the playoffs... Yeah, I know these are great guys who fight their guts out every week, but the fact is that they don't get the job done most of the time.

Would I sign Kris Jenkins? Probably not at the price he would cost if he were out there on the free agent market. And to inherit his current contract, you'd have to trade for him and the price to acquire an All-Pro DT would not be cheap. He'd be a significant upgrade, but I think I'd have to pass on the opportunity.

But don't you think a lot of that "quick fix" mentality has to do with the fans themselves? I mean, I think if blame is going to be placed on Dan Snyder for any reason it's because he still has that mentality that he did when he was "just" a fan, like most on this board. And I think he's gotten a lot better and more patient but he still gets suckered into that fan mob mentality that so many, even here, possess; where complete and utter panic sets in when we even lose a scrimmage.

Not intending to threadjack here, but since this thread started based on a rumored Kris Jenkins sighting in the suburbs here, Pete Carroll - yes, the USC coach - was in town tonight for the Wizards' game.

Is that an indication that he's being courted by the Skins to become the Associate Assistant Head Coach - Special Teams? The Skins don't have one of those yet...

Just asking. ;)

It all depends on who he's sitting with. Remember last offseason...
