I believe it was revealed as part of the scheme. I'll look for the article. There is no way an self respecting player would do that unless told to. And no coach would allow it unless it was schemed.

Rogers said in an interview that it's the scheme.

With the problems in the secondary it's easy to see why GW would want to prevent against the big play. Our secondary got toasted all year but especially early in the season with Springs out and AA playing like ass.

Does anyone know for sure, and if you do can you provide evidence, as to whether or not the huge cussion our DBs, especially Rodgers, gave opposing receivers this year was a result of GW's scheme. Or, were they supposed to play closer, but did't because they were afraid of getting beat.
In addition, which do you think is worse? The fact that GW doesn't have enough confidence to let them play closer, or that they're scared to.

it wasn't coaching. No coach tells his players to get beat over and over and over... Rogers sucks.

The question wasn't about why Rogers was getting beat....of course no coach would tell his player that?

Let's just see if there is a repeat of last year before we conclude that Rogers suck.

Sorry, no coach tells his players to sit and wait and put a huge cushion between himself and the guy he is defending... Rogers had cement in his shoes.

Ummm....I think Rogers was doing exactly what they told him to do, which was give a cushion.

Now maybe Williams had him play that way because of lack of pass rush up front, I don't know.

Sorry but no coach would put up with a player giving that big of a cushion.

I think the answer depends on the WR's talents. For example, if a guy has trouble beating press coverage, the coaches are more inclined to use press coverage. If a guy (e.g. T.O.) can beat press coverage and is speedy, you are going to be 5-10 yards off the line. It also depends on whether the coaches are running a zone or man scheme. It also depends on whether the coaches are calling a blitz. In sum, I don't think that there is any one answer, it depends on a lot of factors.

However, I think it is fair to say that that the CBs weren't playing as much press coverage because we were getting beat for huge plays.

Is Rogers your brother or something? You are always defending him and he SUCKED last year. I don't care how talented you are, if you are can't catch the damn ball, tackle a guy, rush a guy, and when you do "try" you end up getting an interference call - YOU SUCK.
