[quote=12thMan;272735]My only question is, how could the guy be a bust one year, and Pro Bowl material the next? That is what bugs me more than

How? Opportunity, that's how. He got the opportunity to prove his worth and he stepped up. There are too many showoffs on the Skins, so the average guys don't bother...

Ok, he had 6 ints. but how many big plays did he give up? I think the number of ints. stand out and could cover up the bad. I did not watch him play so I really don't know.

Dude, don't just down play six ints. That's a damn good year any way you slice it.

Corners give up a fair amount of big plays, that's just the nature of the beast.

I'm happy for Harris. And, as has been pointed out, who saw this one coming? Maybe we should re-sign Kenny Wright to a $50 million deal (j/k).

No a wasn't down playing 6 ints. but was wondering how he played the rest of the saeson. If he intercepts a ball but then gets burned for two TD's thw only real number that will stand out from the game is the int unless your a SF fan.

Good for Harris. But also keep in mind he had 3 interceptions in one game....against Oakland

If you compared the 2005 seasons of Wright and Harris, and considered their age and contracts the rationale choice would have been to sign Wright for 2006. Unfortunately, rationality doesn't always work

Exactly my sentiments.

He had as good of a season as I have seen a corner have in a while. I think I saw him get beat like twice all season. The young Shawntae Spencer was our #1 guy coming in and he was the one who was actually getting thrown on and beat a considerable amont of plays. Harris shut down his guys for the most part all season. Glad to see he got in, his lack of name recognition was the only reason he was snubbed.

Ints aren't a good way to make an arguement that we should have kept the guy. Everybody and their grandma knows he wouldn't have gotten more than 2 Ints here.

What did impress me was basically everything else he did this season. He wasn't even thrown on all that much, and when they did he would make the play. I think he denied Torry Holt at least 3 TD's this year.

You can't overlook interceptions but you also have to consider the circumstances. I'll cite Barry Wilburn and Larry Brown.

Barry Wilburn was a beast that one year (1987 I think) with 9 interceptions and everyone was like "Oh snap, Wilburn is da bomb!" But then you say, 'Well, how is this guy getting so many interceptions" Answer: Look across the field and see who's shutting down the other side. Yeah, Darrell Green. No one is even challenging him so Wilburn is getting tons of opportunities. Good for him though on making the most of them.

Then you look at Larry Brown (the Cowboy, not the Redskin), Super Bowl MVP with two interceptions. For one thing he was helped greatly by Neil O'Donnell throwing it right at him. But secondly, a lot of it was because the Steelers wouldn't dare throw to Deion's side.

Now I'm not saying this was the case with Harris because it's not like he has a stud on the opposite side of him. But in general terms it's a factor to be considered.
