cityslang 01-26-2007, 04:27 AM Jone's media machine has mentioned EVERY name under the NFL sun since the Tuna's resignation, and I fully expect to get home this morning to find out he's added Rosie O'Donnell and Yosemite Sam to his list. Is it me, or does anybody else get a slight sense of desperation from this plastic (the male equivalent of Joan Rivers!) jackass?
OHHHH, the HUMANITY of it all!!!!
gibbs4life 01-26-2007, 10:54 AM oh wait i heard jones may hire lurch to be the next coach of his beloved cowboys...

Redskinhog1963 01-26-2007, 06:45 PM They should hire Tony Sparano, their o-line coach, just for entertainment value. That actually sounds like something JJ would do.
wonder how long it would take ole tony to have paulie and christopher whack terrell owens?
i'd give him 3 days, and he'd be down there sleeping with the fishes like big pussy,or he'd be found with a questick up his ass like the lou did last year?:food-smil

:) I'm surprised it took someone this long to call me on that!! the 80's n 90's gibbs was the bomb, this gibbs is not, this gibbs barely has a better record than norv turner did his first 3 yrs,and turner had way less to work with, not to mention signing anybody you want in free agency, now no way am i saying turner is a better coach than gibbs,I'm just saying I'm not happy with this gibbs, the skins were by far the biggest dissapointment in the nfl this yr,and if it was anybody else besides gibbs coaching them,he either would have been fired or be in the hot seat bigtime

At least he's won more playoff games (one), than Parcells did with the Cowboys (zero), this go round. I have to agree with you though, the second incarnation of Gibbs has been pretty dissapointing so far, even as much as I respect the guy. I don't think if someone else were coaching they'd be on the hot set though, I mean they did go 10-6 the previous year and win a playoff game, sometimes you just have bad years, and this one was extraordinarily bad! You have to admit though, they did play a lot better the second half of the season, even if their record didn't reflect it. I still strongly believe next season they'll have playoff caliber team again.
GTripp0012 01-26-2007, 11:04 PM and if it was anybody else besides gibbs coaching them,he either would have been fired or be in the hot seat bigtimeThis is 100% true and even more irrelivant. Any coach who wasn't a legend probably would be on a very short leash at best right now. The point is that Joe Gibbs is a legend. He earned his rep, it wasn't handed to him. There were some erroneous personel errors made by Gibbs and his staff, but remember that he has never earned respect as a personel guy, which should be treated seperately from his coaching ability. I think he's more than capable of learning from his errors as a personel guy. Hell, I think Snyder has learned from his errors, and could be a half decent personel guy. Can't blame them from making mistakes resulting from inexperience, everyone has to start somewhere.
Any coaching errors made this year were probably attributable to a lack of Gibbs' influence rather than to Gibbs himself. I honestly think he learned more this year than all of his prior coaching expierences combined. At the end of the year, he was even reconsidering some of his old-school conservative tendencies, considering going for a 4th and 1 vs. NO before correctly opting to kick the FG. That's the mark of a good coach. Not that anyone should be questioning whether or not Gibbs is a good coach.
From a righting the ship standpoint, is there any coach in the league better at it than Gibbs?
