Just 31 years old. A week ago he's thinking he'll be offensive coordinator of the Raiders. Next thing you know he's head coach
ESPN.com - NFL - Raiders zero in on coach, have deal with USC's Kiffin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2739645)

Talk about second choice.
Wonder what his dad thinks after spending his whole career toiling as an assistant and his kid goes and gets a big dance job from the guy on the moon? So does anyne think this won't be a total disaster? He's supposed to manage this team that is in disarray? The team is in total chemistry melt down with no leadership from within and a guy who is younger than a 1/3 of the team is going to come in a demand respect and lead them? Brilliant!

You know, I'd give him a shot. There is plenty of undiscovered coaching talent out there waiting for their shot. I thought Sean Payton was a worthless assistant that should've stayed with the Cowboys before the season but look what he did. Anything has to be better then Art Shell though. At least the Raiders have the first pick in the draft to build around though. The Raiders already have their defense set, or at least it would appear so. All they need is some help on the offense.

It's a good choice.
Davis had to scramble to find just a candidate; ended up landing a young offensive mind with a pedigree. Now there is talk that Sarkisian could join the team as the O Coordinator. Anyway, this probably turned out as well as a Raider coaching search possibly could.

Their defense was an abberation. They played the pass well because everyone ran on them constantly and they were always losing. They need some help there two. They are nowhere near a team that can win 8 games.

Well I just checked the stats and while Oakland did have the 24th ranked run defense, they still had the #3 defense in the entire NFL. So they are doing something right on that team. It's not much to gloat about but if they can get some help in terms of offense and run defense they will be better.

Notice Indy and Oakland are 2 and 1 is passing d. Then notice the attempts. They had the least amount of attempts against them of any team in the league also. The fact that their run d was so bad was a main reason their pass d was so 'good'. I am not saying their pass wasn't decent. Just that the stats don't tell the whole story. Watching them several times made realize just how bad their run d was and just how under challenged their pass d was.
It also made me want to poke my eyes out. But that's a whole other issue. :)

That's a good point. I'm not denying they are the worst team in the league. I just think that they have a shot at being a 7 or 8 win team next year, provided they try to make themselves better through free agency and the draft.
