Need Computer helpMTK 02-08-2007, 04:23 PM I'm using AVG now thanks to you guys, it's great That Guy 02-09-2007, 12:34 AM btw, didn't back read this thread, but for a LAPTOP, DO NOT use drivers from nvidia.com. most of the time they won't work (it'll tell you it won't work in the setup). for laptops, you kinda have to use whatever the manufacturer gives you on their website, even though it probably isn't updated very often. it might be different if you have one of those 3,000$ dual gfx card desktop replacements, but if you did, you'd already know about it's driver situation ;). EternalEnigma21 02-09-2007, 10:56 AM you guys know of any free antivirus/spyware approved for vista yet? i havent seen anything but xp... SCRATCH THAT... AVG HAS VERS. 7.5 SOMETHING and it says its vista ready..... should've looked before I asked.... thanks... EternalEnigma21 02-09-2007, 11:08 AM after further review: I'd check out avast... the AVG doesn't have anti-spyware available and a few other things you have to pay for... avast gives you all of that for free... TheMalcolmConnection 02-09-2007, 11:13 AM That's the only difference for me and Avast. I feel like I'm a smart browser and XP SP2 as well as Vista have built-in tools that will prevent spyware, thus I wouldn't want to add anything else to take up system resources. EternalEnigma21 02-09-2007, 11:24 AM I was also checking out some reviews and cnet seems to give avast 5 stars vs. 4 for AVG... I'm not sure why, though... TheMalcolmConnection 02-09-2007, 11:32 AM Probably for the built-in spyware. That Guy 02-09-2007, 05:02 PM you can get ad-aware at Ad-Aware @ Lavasoft - The Original Anti-Spyware Company - Lavasoft (http://lavasoft.de/) or spybot search and detroy. there's a few things that work pretty well for that. |
