Yeah, it's all driver-related. Install the drivers and everything will fix itself. If you want to optimize your computer even further, here's some things to turn off:

1) Right click on My Computer, go to Properties, then the Advanced tab. Under Performance, uncheck the top six options. This will make your computer perform even faster graphically. Also, under the Advanced tab, turn off Error Reporting.

Also, I don't use System Restore, it doesn't do shit for me. I would turn that off as well.

Also, if you want me to help you clean it up even more. I can help you delete some registry entires that are total BS upon bootup.

Once that opens up, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Take a screenshot of what's in there and paste it here. There's typically a lot of crap that starts up at bootup that you don't need. Video drivers have a particularly large amount of crap that you can get rid of.

My smooth scrolling is on, so I think it is a driver issue.

What exactly is your expectation as far as scrolling? You could try changing how the mouse wheel works (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/efd700f8-bbc0-4f04-9f78-3bdb4bbf47011033.mspx). Basically, change how many lines it scrolls at a time.

One more thing, save yourself some headache down the road and get Firefox Web Browser (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/). You'll be better off in the long run.

I do have Firefox with adblocker plus as an add-on.

Only reason I think it is wacked out is because I am just comparing my scrolling to what it was before when I bought the computer.

Currently it is very choppy and it seems odd. It is hard to explain. I think my roomie agrees its a driver issue, but I will check into that.

Did you change your browser? It could be possible that the scrolling works differently only in your (new) browser. Is the scrolling issue system-wide?

No, this happened after I reformatted my computer and started over.

And this occurs for all my browsers not just Firefox.

Yes, he's right in that it's totally related to the video driver. That's how Windows will display video (nice and choppy) if the correct driver isn't installed.

Well I got a driver for my video card and things are looking good right now.


My Anti-virus is gonna run out in 15 days so I need a good free one. I heard the one AOL is letting people have for free is good. Someone told me it the same as some other software, but AOL just bought the rights to it. Said it was top notch, anyone else here about this?
