Dale Lindsey Gone...irish 01-17-2007, 06:58 AM I guess someone had to be the fall guy for the pathetic performance of the D and DL was it. Dogtag 01-17-2007, 08:43 AM The Redskins organization is taking a realistic look at where they are as a team and what they need to do to improve. Obviously they decided to go in a different direction with regards to Coach Lindsey. For all his dedication and hard work provided to the Redskins organization, I would like to say 'Thank You' to Coach Lindsey and wish him well in the future. I'm also glad to see the Redskins make this decision very early in their off-season. It provides both the Redskins and Coach Lindsey the best oppotunities to move forward and hopefully upward. Manusky91 01-17-2007, 08:46 AM The sad thing is that he was the primary cause of Lavar's departure, and now he's gone too. Maybe they should have gotten rid of Lindsey earlier. squrrelco3 01-17-2007, 09:05 AM One thing I like about this is the promotion is from within...in the same article it was mentioned that the 'Skins are the only team Olivadotti has been with throughout his coaching career (since 2000). Maybe this is a sign that Gibbs and more importantly the FO are finally starting to place value on continutiy, low turnover, and looking for good solid bargan basement quality instead of trying to make the big splash all the d*mn time. firstdown 01-17-2007, 09:37 AM no more assistants! all we need is GW, 1 dline coach, 1 LB coach, and 1 Secondary coach. thats what every other team has. this year we had like 25 diffrent assistants. all you need is like 10 including JG, AS, and GW. I was watching the Skins v/s Broncos SB slauter the other night and the announcers for the game made the comment that the skins had more coaches than anyother team in the NFL even back then. So I guess having all these coaches is nothing new for a Gibbs team which I found interesting. firstdown 01-17-2007, 09:38 AM The sad thing is that he was the primary cause of Lavar's departure, and now he's gone too. I also noticed the titles were the same, Pettibone was the assistant head coach - defense. diehardskin2982 01-17-2007, 10:19 AM no more assistants! all we need is GW, 1 dline coach, 1 LB coach, and 1 Secondary coach. thats what every other team has. this year we had like 25 diffrent assistants. all you need is like 10 including JG, AS, and GW. We have an empty spot and the linebackers do not have a coach so we need an assistant to do that. I think this guy they want to promote from within will be great SouperMeister 01-17-2007, 10:31 AM This earlier thread regarding Lindsey's thoughts on McCune and others speak volumes about his abrasive nature. I for one am glad he's gone: Originally Posted by TAFKAS http://www.thewarpath.net/images/buttons/viewpost.gif (http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/16350-dolphins-sign-mccune-off-our-practice-post259764.html#post259764) The writing seemed to be on the wall back in August "He's not where we want him," Lindsey said. "Robert turned out to be a good special teams players last year, and if you're a backup linebacker here we expect you to be good in that area. But we expect him to rise this year when he's playing middle linebacker. And right now, I don't see him where we want him, and I'm not taking the blame for that." Youth Must Demonstrate That It's Ready to Serve (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/04/AR2006080401398.html) When has Dale Lindsay EVER taken the blame for anything? He made it his business to call out and embarrass LaVar last year, but it wasn't until LaVar broke the lineup that the team became a physical run-stuffing unit during the playoff drive. It was LaVar with a key INT to set up a score against Tampa in the playoffs. It was LaVar who KO'ed Shawn Alexander the following week giving us a real chance to advance to the NFC Championship. Can you name even two impact plays that Holdman has made as Lindsay's annointed WLB??? And don't blame Lindsay for McIntosh developing at a glacial pace, because he won't take the blame for that either. diehardskin2982 01-17-2007, 11:04 AM right on souper!!!! |
